also another ineresting fact: they filmed endings with each man winning, and in the theaters in the black neighborhoods they showed the Ali as the winner version, and in the white theaters they showed the ending where Marciano won.

I saw this too, but the most interesting part is what has been widely reported during the making of this project. Obviously, there are only a few people who can verify this, but I thought it was worth mentioning because I hear about it a lot.

Both boxers actually met and sparred about 70 rounds LIVE to be used to splice together the film. The agreement was that they would pull all punches except body shots. Ali took this project because he was pissed that the radio show Fantasy Fights which would do a mock play-by-play broadcast of fights that never actually took place had him losing to Jim Jeffries. Ali's involovment in the Superfight with Marciano was part of a lawsuit settlement against the Fantasy Fights program. Anyhow, Ali just looked at this as something to do, but Marciano took this very seriously and asked for some time to get into shape. He was 45 and Ali was 26.

Marciano, 13 years removed from his retirement, lost about 50lbs. and wore a toupee during the taping. Now here's where it gets good. Ali, again not taking this very seriously, decided to have some fun at Rocky's expense and targeted the toupee during the sparring. He knocked if off several times and Rocky got pissed and told him that if he did it again, he would knock him out for real. Of course, Ali did it again and Rocky immediately responded with a shot that dropped Ali (body shot). The two had to be calmed down, because Rocky was really ready to fight! Ali, apologized and the taping continued.

Ali, reportedly commented that his arms and body were numb the entire next day. He said that he couldn't imagine what he hit like in his prime.

Marciano, was reportedly said that he was amazed and Ali's ability to make punches miss by a fraction of an inch.

What I wouldn't give to see the raw footage on this entire project - especially the part where they got into it for real.

No, he didn't know he was going to lose. The contract stated that both fighters would agree to whatever the computer generated results would be. The actual footage was edited to support the computer prediction. Later, after watching the final cut, Ali jokingly said he should have known that he would be beat by "a computer made in Alabama."

Marciano probably hit hard in his prime but I don't see him doing much better then henry cooper against Ali.

Seen this ages ago and it looks just as sh*t on second viewing..
Hate these sort of things and we'll simply never know but i's bet a lot of money that Ali would have toyed with him
