I really hope HBO push Kessler into a big fight next time out. Mikkel has superb skills and would love to see him fight Froch or Pavlik.

Kessler/Pavlik is the fight I most wanted made as I wanted to possibly gauge what kind of chance Pavlik had against Calzaghe after a fight with Kessler; obviously if he lost it would be a moot point.

Since Joe seems to be ready to retire I would imagine getting a fight with Kess 1st is going to be below slim chances as Joe isn't going to sit and wait around to see the result.

To be honest I would have prefered to see Pav fight Andrade before either Joe or Mikkel. All 3 fights would be great action fights. And Pavlik is looking at possible losses in all 3.

Good vid by the way; though I couldn't understand WTF anybody was saying

Kessler cares more about collecting paper titles then actually fighting good fighters.

HBO will never televise these fights where Kessler fights some Hobo for the "Regular-interim" WBA paper title of the galaxy.

    Its garbage.

I was really impressed with Kessler when I watched him fight Calzaghe. I remember agreeing completely with Manny when he praised Kessler even in defeat. Which is why I was surprised when Kessler pulled out of the Miranda fight, I thought he'd destroy Miranda. I can't avoid thinking that possibly the pulling out of that fight is indicative of what his trainers (or himself) really think of him. On the other hand, I understand the need for a tune-up fight, but two tune-ups? That I don't understand. Kessler previously dominated Andrade and he was on the world stage when he fought Calzaghe, why take a step back?

Also, note that Haussler only has seven KO's in his 29 wins (KO% = 21.1%). That shows me that Kessler currently doesn't want to fight anyone with a big punch. Again, this slightly baffles me because of his the people he has previously fought and beat, but who knows maybe losing to Joe took some of his heart.

Kessler previously dominated Andrade and he was on the world stage when he fought Calzaghe, why take a step back? Furthermore, look at Arthur Abraham who after beat Miranda is fighting a rough mandatory with Marquez. Fair enough. But, there is already talk of him meeting Winkie Wright in the beginning of the year and Pavlik in the Spring.

    Gotcha.

But remember Chad Dawson was recently faced with a similar situation. Chad Dawson's mandatory was Adrian Diaconu, but rather than fight Diaconu for the strap, he decided to relinquish the strap in order to gain recognition from a fight with a bigger name opponent, Antonio Tarver. In that scenario, arguably Dawson was ducking Diaconu to fight someone with less pop, but the point still stands: the utility of a belt is that it gets you champion status and big fights. Tell me I'm wrong, but if you can already land the big fights why settle for a BS mandatory fight unless it is a tune-up (see Pavlik's destruction of Gary Lockett)?

Another reason to doubt Kessler's current status is his inactivity. Why has Kessler only fought twice (both European club fighters) since his Calzaghe defeat a year ago? Compare his activity and level-of-opposition to another of Calzaghe's victims: Peter Manfredo. Since being destroyed by Calzaghe (six months before the Calzaghe v. Kessler fight), Manfredo has fought 6x, including a losing bout with Jeff Lacy, which was very close, and his next fight is against Sakio Bika. I'm not heaping praise on Manfredo, and I think Bika will maul him, but the inactivity of Kessler may reflect his confidence and motivation.

Kessler was injured after Calzaghe fight,so therefore his inactivity

I like Kessler and still think he gave Calzaghe a good test. Hopefully he can take on some of the better 168 fighters again
