He's entertaining to watch. I'm a fan in that sense--I will not change the channel on a Hatton match--they're some of the best matches to see. That's not inconsistent with thinking he's not a top 10 p4p fighter, or to think that people who say so are overrating him. He's good, not great. He's great to watch though.Originally Posted by Saddo

Can we stick to the point?
Barrera got knocked around the ring last night, he really got wobbled on a few occasions and I am not convinced he did enough to win the fight he has been awarded on a dubious recount.
Yet many folk have been quick to shower him with praise as is their wont...
However, when Ricky hatton wins a unanimous decision in a hard fought contest he is totally rubbished by many folk here.
Both fights were wars and were entertaining but both fighters were not treated equally or fairly.
There are a lot of Hatton bashers who don't care if he wins, or has an unbeaten record, or is a two weight world champion.
All they care about is tearing him down at every opportunity.

let me sum this up how i see it....
Hatton has alot more haters than Barrera
Was that fight supposed to be close? I am watching it right now and friggin MAB won 6 rounds out of 7 and then won a couple more...close? Nah, MAB won pretty clear.
MAB-Freitas anyone?
MAB-Raheem
Juarez-Barrios
Juarez-Morales
Juarez-Pacquiao, MAB-Pacquiao II. Morales should retire--we'll see how he fares in Pacquiao III, but I don't think it'll end well for him.Originally Posted by Lyle
Barrera looks to be wearing down. He won't want many more fights like that one. Also Juarez is talented. His workrate might need to improve but he is an accurate puncher with boxing ability. His right hand over MAB's jab worked all night and his left hook is a thing of beauty. If he gets a rematch and fights with more urgency he is a big chance to take MAB out and retire him
Was Barerra found out? Was hatton exposed? blah, blah, blah, blah. These are the fights at the championship level folks. They're not all easy.
disagree. barrera and hatton both won IMO...Originally Posted by Starr

IMO the two fights were completely different.
Hatton is making his way up, trying to show that one day he may become a Great one. And he has made amazing strides, culminating in beating the brilliant Kostya Tszyu. And because he was so good against Tszyu everybody has such high expectations about his performances since.
Against Collazo for the first time ever, he did not meet up to them expectations, and has taken a lot grief for that. Some deserved, some a bit harsh, some completely over the top.
Barrera is comming to the end of a superb career, he is perhaps showing signs of wear and tear from 12+ years of fighting at the very top. He is defiantly less consistant than he was at his best, and perhaps will only rise to the occasion when there is another superb fighter in the opposite corner.
Because of this when he merely fights a very good fighter, like Juarez, he struggles. But because Barrera has given us all one hell of a ride over the last 10 years or so, perhaps unlike Hatton he gets more of the benefit of the doubt?
Well summed up BK

But even I accept that the ending of a challenger needing to dominate a champion to get a points win, is a good thing. And virtually everybody was saying as far back as Holyfield/BoweII it was a good thing.
