I've never read Ayn Rand, let alone have it been assigned as required reading. I've never heard or read anything from any of the people you mention.

I live and go to school in Canada, where, particularily in academia, liberalism is the norm. My profs are almost universally self-described left-wing liberal socialists, to the point where I find it bothersome at times. Who are you to tell me, and them, what their views are when you have no idea who they even are?

And it is bad on both sides. It's not defeatist to say that. It's defeatist to say, well, this is what we have and it's the best we can do. The democrats are slightly less fucked than the republicans, it doesn't make them good.

I really don't understand what you're trying to say. You can generalize all you want, but it's not applicable to my situation, which you know nothing about.
Son you dont get it,as Ameica goes,so goeth the world
Lets look at some of our Academic shining lights,
Milton Friedman, resurrected the often failed idea of lazziez faire economics, often quoted as the source for "trickle down economic theory"
Irving Kristol, founder of the Neo-conservative movement, and 1992 recipient of the Medal Of Freedom from Bush 1
William Kristol founder of the ultra right Weekly Standard
Lets look at popular American Political commentators
Rush Limbaugh, often lies, failed sports commentator for the Kansas City Royals
Sean Hannity-Lies even more often, when he isnt yelling at people, former steel worker
Bill Orielly-Former tabloid reporter,he lies pretty often too
    Michael Savage-Former herbalist
Michelle Malkin-Why is she famous again?
    Ann Coulter-McCarthy Blacklist apologist
Dick Morris-Political advisor turned prostitute toe licker
William Bennet-Former drug Czar with a two pack a day habit, his gambling habit,a little more so
Andrea Peyser-Has one issue,"I hate losing my parking space to UN diplomats"
Neil Boortz-Speech writer for staunch segregationist Lestor Maddox

Man what a collection of great thought, this country listens to every day of its life
No, you quite obviously don't get it. In regards to what we are discussing - remember you were telling me how the neo-cons had rewritten history and somehow corrupted my education - I don't give a flying fuck what the supposed academic situation in the States is. It is in no way applicable to the prevailing notions here and is irrelevant to the conversation. Just because I'm studying American history does not mean that the books we use were even written by Americans (though in some cases they are, obviously). It has been demonstrated to me time and again that MY professors, while admitting their biases, are able to present as objective a position as possible.

You were trying to tell me that these people you mention are somehow rewriting history and that my education has been corrupted by it. I told you that I have never been assigned anything by those people, that opinions like theirs are obviously considered (as should ALL opinions) in relevant situations, but by no means are they presented as truthful or as anything more than what they are: biased, partisan, right-wing objects of scorn who are blatantly pushing agendas. I can assure you that liberalism and left-wing ideals are alive and well in the halls of Canadian universities, I know, I am heading up to one for a history class in about an hour.

But please, feel free to tell me more about the perspectives of the people who are my professors, despite the facts that I am the one actually listening to their words and opinions and that you have never met them, have no idea who they are, and are making baseless assumptions based on the situation in the States, which is somehow supposed to have injected some kind of bias/agenda into my education.

The people you named are all influential idiots. So what? It has little or no bearing on the positions of the people who's work I have been assigned to study. Just because your country listens to them does not mean many other people do not view them with anything more the derision.
Hate to break it to you, yeah, your text books are written by Americans, most of the major text book firms in the western hemisphere are from Dallas Texas
And as they say it is,thus it is dutifully repeated in other textbooks
Isnt it fun,how idiots with large ammounts of money can just change reality if it isnt convienient, and doesnt tell them what they allready know
Hey you probably think of Fredrick Douglas(if you do think of Fredrick Douglas at all,not a mean thing, but how many people think of Fredrick Douglas?) as a staunch unionist
He was also one of the most vehement Pro-Slavery Presidents the nation ever had,but you wouldnt know that if you read a history book printed later then 1911.

How would you know who writes my text books? Yes, as I said, some of them are written by Americans. However, that isn't necessarily indicitive of their political bias. Using your ridiculous logic, I guess that means you're a right-wing revisionist as well because you're an American.

How could you possibly know anything about the education I'm getting when you don't even know what school I go to or anything about anyone working there. This is preposterous and it is absurd of you to attempt to tell me about anything regards my situation. You know nothing about any of it and I can't understand why you persist in think that you do. Why don't you go and read why I posted in my last few responses again, because you've clearly missed the point. Try actually answering the questions I pose and the issues I raise. Until you do I am done responding to you and your idiotic assumptions.

The publishing houses are based in Texas
Texas has some seriously screwed rules about what is acceptable.
If you cant get the book published, you cant read it
It makes for a pretty safe assumption
The victors control the history, and unfortunatly America is very often the victor,we have bigger bombs.
We've skewed the entire history of the western hemisphere
We didnt invade Grenada to make Ronnie look tough after he cut and ran from Lebanon.
We did it because there were 30 cubans with power tools looking to bring down western civilization by building an airport
We didnt invade Panama to cover up a drug deal gone bad in the Iran Contra scandal
We did it to protect the western hemisphere from the dictator who two years earlier we praised for him helping us fight drugs

None of those "skewed histories" have been presented as facts to me, so you're wrong yet again. Why do you persist in making assumptions about my education? Have you ever been to a Canadian University, let alone the one I attend? Do you even know its name? They do not rely on standards set by the State of Texas. Not a single one of my texts were published there, I just looked at 6 of them. One was from NJ, one from NY, and one from Mass.;the others weren't even published in the States. You don't know jack shit about anything pertaining to my situation.

And the texts themselves are supplimental and selectively used to either support or contrast the teachings of the prof. What's contained in them is not necessarily indicative of what is being taught. Several of my professors frequently present different views of what is reported in certain parts of the texts anyways and several perspectives are almost always presented.

And please continue to tell me more about the obvious right-wing, revisionist bias of my liberal professors. Since you know so much about them and their positions, perspectives, and ideologies, why don't you start my giving me their names?

And while we're at it, since you're clearly omnipotent, what did I have for dinner last night?

But you've already told me all about them and their perspectives, why would you actually need to read something they had written when you already know all that Very confusing.

OK sorry I have to interject. This is fairly bizarre TM, what are you on about? Why are you mentioning right wing conservative commentators? Did Sean Hannity write textbooks or something? This is ridiculous, you're telling him that he is being tought rewritten history, yet you have no idea what he is actually being taught. I have an English teacher that was in the Weather Underground, of course she must be teaching the agendas of the rich and right winged. Seriously, get a grip.
