Haye turned down a Peter fight!

Like Maloney said, it would have been good challenger money, although a few people here are talking about him, no one outside of boxing circles knows who Haye is, let alone Peter.

Haye would have been allowed a straight shot at the WBC heavy title because he was the cruiser champ, I think the WBC allows straight shots at titles for lighter champs moving up.

Audley Harrison beat Peter in the Sydney olympic warm ups, it was an amature bout but he still managed to take Peters shots for 4, 2 minute rounds

I think Haye is shitting his pants now hes in the real world, even if it is against someone who was sparked as early as the second round by a journeyman just last year

He got dropped by McCline Couldnt finish off chinny Wlad and did a Judah dance to boot.

I deffo think Vitali has a punchers chance here, he has been out 4 years and may be making a mistake but I reckon hes the type of bloke to push himself in training to get where he needs to be and I think even now he has what it takes to make Peter look foolish

Peter is so open to shots this will end up like a warm up for Vitali, although, I see no point in this comeback unless he cleans the belts up.

Not that I hold Sam Peter in any high esteem, but I think you are way underestimating him. Don't compare what a guy does in the amateurs to what he does in the pros. Fighters have proven over and over again (except Shane Mosley) that they became better fighters as pros and beaten their amateur conquerors. I've said it a billion times: look at that McCline-Peter fight and tell me when you have EVER seen Jameel fight like that. Maybe once or twice early on in his career, but for a big, intimidating looking heavyweight McCline typically does not fit the bill come fight night. I think the pre-interview with Jim Gray illuminates what went on in that fight and it had little to nothing to do with Peter's chin. His defense is suspect, though. If Klitschko has been able to knit his body together AND knock off the rust he MIGHT be able to pull it off.

That being said, Haye would have been nuts to take on Peter in his first bout, okay, second at HW. David needs to figure out how being in the biggest division wears on his body before trading blows with one of its biggest punchers. You don't want to find out it's a little too much for you once you're staring up at the ceiling lights. Peter is deceptively short. When he fights, he seems a lot taller than he is. Maybe because opponents take a wider stance so they can reach him without crouching down or they want to have more mobility and be less stiff against a guy who can wobble them with a single punch, but Haye would be eye-to-eye with him almost on fight night and that might be a big mistake when you tend to hang out your chin like David does against a power hitter who rarely throws body shots.
