1. No, I'm not fed up with James De Gale.
2. Who's James De Gale?
There's not much else to look forward to as far as British boxing is concerned so I'll wait at least till I see him in a ring before I decide whether to like him or not. I wasn't too impressed with what I did see of him. I don't think he'd be very exciting to watch as a pro.
There was virtually no boxing in that final. It really summed up for me the startling difference between what it takes to be a good amateur and translating that to the pros.
not a massive fan of degale, doesnt mean he cant be a good pro though, he used a style that was made for the olympics and it worked a treat, it would take alot but he seems like a great athlete and could be a good prospect not saying he will but he could, let the boy have his 5 minutes of fame, does piss me off when its all about the cash though.
YOU FIND IT HARD TO UNDERSTAND MY POST ? I SAID WORLD CLASS PUNCH , NOT BEING ABLE TO KO BUMS AT DOMESTIC LEVEL , I THINK YOU MAY FIND KHAN DOESNT KO ANY WORLD CLASS FIGHTERS , AS YOU WONT SEE HARRISON KOING ANY TOP FIGHTERS.
SO TO SUM UP DEGALE WILL NEED A WORLD CLASS PUNCH IN MY OPINION TO MAKE IT .
AND YES KHAN AND HARRISON HAVE WEAK CHINS AT WORLD LEVEL TO.
DEGALE WILL HAVE TO TAK E A PUNCH ALSO.
Frankie Gavins is a way,way better prospect than Degale.![]()
Good luck to Degale, but lets be honest he was there at the right place at the right time, he is nothing that amazing, id put the house on it that if the same fighters at the same olympics went at it ten more times Degale would be lucky to win it once, he was a 66/1 shot, very pleased he took his shot and won the Gold.
IMO i have seen George Groves many times and he would beat Degale if they met in the pro ranks, he is making his debut on Haye Barrett undercard and best Degale in 2006 aba's. Have a read of this
Boxing: Groves: I'd knock DeGale out - Setanta Sports
To be fair to Degale he had a tough, tough draw in even getting to the finals but i think he looked a little chinny at times and did not seem to like mixing it up much..maybe just his style but at the end of the day if you look at the people he fought on route to the final he had the hardest possible route.
I say good luck to him getting the big dough. As Skel said he was a huge outsider going to the olympics.
All the amatuer "experts" didn't give him a hope in hells of winning.. considering the Irish guy has beaten him about 30 times in the past you gotta question whether he half-fluked it... but now he is well known, it just makes his career FAR more interesting, whether people will like or hate him![]()
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
It worries me that like Khan he's set to be a millionare before he sets foot in a pro ring
Unavoidable i guess after the Hype surrounding Khans entrance to the pro game but it must and will go to a mans head for sure.
Gonna be an interesting one i say but i don't think he's a world beater from what i have seen but good luck to him!
