You're kidding right? what you are implying is that there are no surprises. A good fighter will know what the judges are thinking. He will know if he is behind on points, regardless of how he thinks he is doing?? Judges scoring always accurately reflects what is happening in the ring?? If you think about it, you'll see that the reality of the sport says somethi8ng differently.
I think open scoring is ok. I don't agree that it is more likely that Peter gives up because he knows how far behind he is. If anything it makes him more likely to try for a KO, no??
Another example is Trinidad - De la Hoya. Obviously he is thinking he is ahead on points going into the last round, and that expediency says play it safe. If he knows the judges think otherwise, then he is likely to be more aggressive.
There is no harm in letting a fighter know how the scoring is going. Is there any other sport that you know of where a competitor really doesn't know for sure if he is winning or losing?
