There was never any point where Peter had a chance in this fight, he needs to get a trainer that can work with him on those things, but honestly I don't think he has the ability to be "that guy" that could get inside against a jab.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

In hindsight, I don't see how I ever thought Peter had a chance of winning. I guess because Vitali could have been rusty or could have had an injury creep up on him. But seeing Peter's body (I didn't see from the beginning) I knew he'd been lazy in training camp. He looked soft. First off, for a guy who's only 6' tall Sam always comes in overweight. Sure he's big-boned, but there's no reason he should ever step in the ring over 235lbs. I looked at him and could tell he was over 250. When he came in at 249 against Toney he looked great in how he moved. He was very agile, which he wasn't against Vitali. With his success of late I'd lain off saying it but now it bears dusting off and repeating: ministers don't make good trainers. If Sam is serious about fighting pro he needs to dump him for someone who knows what to do. Someone who can make Sam put the fork down and do roadwork on a consistent basis. Someone who doesn't have to remind him of the basics mid-fight. I say go out and hire Mike Tyson. I doubt he knows how to train but if you can get him to do what he did and training and just follow suit you're ahead of the curve. Look at Sam's big ol' belly- think it ever did 1000 sit-ups in one setting? If Peter could shadow Mike he could become a monster. Just make him a co-trainer.

If Vitali can remain healthy he can rule the division. When you're that big, fast and talented it's difficult for anyone to get in your way.

Anyone else think that Sam Peter's gameplan was a steaming turd??

It looked as if he rocked up expecting to fight a midget and then all of a sudden looked over and saw 6foot8 Vitali across the ring from him.

Against Vitali, a guy of Peter's height has got to work damn hard to get inside. His training camp should have been spent sparring against giants, practising the head movements and quick footwork that Tyson used to great effect against taller opponents.

He was a human punching bag in there tonight - his effort and gameplan were so sadly lacking it wasn't funny. I heard his trainer yell 'move your head' and 'keep your hands up'. That is what you are taught on your first night in a boxing gym.

Another heavyweight title fight, another massive dissapointment - another reason every boxer in the world over 200lb should be shot. Shoot em all, start over.
    What effort ?
