There was a veteran and his wife sitting beside me during that scene and he was visibly shaken. From what I've read, it was even more brutal that they depicted.
Edit: Though to be fair to the movie, I believe what they were trying to depict was the 3rd assault wave.

The 2 CFH and AMAT said were the 1st two that came to mind for me. Also there are some viscious scenes in Apacolypto, which I happen to be watching now. If you haven't seen it watch it; brutality throughout.

hmmmmm i never seen Saving Private Ryan i must see that some day. Cannibal Holocaust was really violent to me, its still hard for me to watch that.
For the last two hours I have been trying to get the clip from Irreversible when the guy beats the guy headless with a fire extiguisher, but something is wrong with youtube
