Ok Calzaghe Haters What Does He Need To Do In Jones Fight To Get Respect!

My thoughts on it:

He can never gain respect from the haters.

The haters are just that, HATERS! They will hate him whatever he does.

1. He fights lacy, the haters are screaming how lacy will bash him out the ring, he batters him.

2. He fights kessler, the haters are relishing the thought of kessler outboxing and overwhelming calzaghe, calzaghe nullifies him and finishes it with ease.

3. He fights hopkins (the same hopkins who bashed the sh1t out of pavlik, tarver and wright), the haters say he will get ko'd by hopkins, he has hopkins gassing for air after the 8th round and wins the fight.

Even if you take away his other career wins, take away the fact he is the longest champion in the history of the sport still boxing today, take away the fact hes a 2 weight champ, and just look at those 3 things...NORMALLY its enough for any true boxing fan to say 'yeah hes a wicked fighter.'

But the fact remains, they dont.

The reason for this is very sad.

Instead of being 'reasonable' and 'balanced' people and saying 'i dont like calzaghes style because he is too unorthadox and i dont like his swinging punches, but you have to give him respect for what hes achieved' (any true boxing fan would say this)...they just hate him.

Im relishing the prospect of seeing the haters sitting at home cursing their tv screens when they see calzaghe coming into the ring against jones, the haters praying from calzaghe to lose...but once again, like very single time he has ever been doubted, he'll win!

And then as predicted, we will have the same threads all over again and again, the same people saying how they still dont rate calzaghe (as predicted), over and over again lol.

To be honest, as for the way he fights, id much rather see him go all out against jones and drop him.

You are entiltled to your average opinion , as for Calzaghe ever being on the level of a prime RJJ , dont make me laugh.

Reallky good point they mate.I've already made my point about Calzaghe as a great fighters loads of times on here.Of course theirs haters of Calzaghe,after all its a free world to make your own judgement on things,but i totally agree with you.What does my head in is that people say that Calkzaghe has fought loads of bums and that he has never been tested!!That just makes me laugh sooo much when they say crap like that.How can they say that,Eubank,Brewer,lacy,Kessler,Hopkins are bums?I like Calzaghe a lot.He has the best boxing brain in the game!

I know what will turn these Haters(at least half of them)of Calzaghe into fans of his,,,is when he fights Froch after Froch beats Pascal that is!

I'm not a Calzaghe hater, but I'm certainly a bit of critic when it comes to him being over protected and being a total slapper for the the last 4 years or so. I give him plenty of respect for the Kessler fight, and beating Hopkins, even if just barely. 43 or not, Hopkins is still one of the best in the world. He's the Nolan Ryan of boxing.

How much credit he gets in MY book depends somewhat depends on how Jones looks and how he goes into the fight mentally. Jones has looked progressively better since Tarver 3, and he's improved some technical flaws that he used to mask with almost godlike reflexes. He still has his handspeed and some tools that could give Joe problems. If Jones looks good, and Calzaghe still beats him clearly, it'll give him credit. I think Jones actually has a chance in this fight, because I don't think he will go in afraid of getting hit and that will allow him to open up.

I echo this sentiment. Only to add, if RJJ looks good for the first 2/3 of the fight and then Calzaghe knocks him out, well, that would be definitely make me think twice.

Of course, like him or not, he deserves credit. He is a special talent.

No what I'm saying is many people feel Jones is a shot fighter and that this fight should have happened 10 years ago. Joe may be on the decline but is still very good. 'Shot' is not a word people would use to describe him. And the fact of it is, for Joe to get his due respect he would pretty much need to do something 'miraculous' like fighting a younger Roy Jones. That would satisfy a Calzaghe hater, of whom, I am not.
