My first awareness of the sport is an Ali speech after he was stripped of his title. The first Ali - Quarry Fight is my earliest memory of actually watching a fight. I was quite young, and very awestruck by it all. Watching Teofilo Stevenson put people away in the Olympics also sticks in my mind. For the first few years it was strictly Ali, I don't remember watching any other fights until watching Sugar Ray Leonard in the Olympics. Didn't like him, he was too flashy![]()
I don't remember which fight, but it was probably a muhamad ali fight.
My younger brother liked boxing before I did but aside from Ray Leonard getting publicity, Howard Davis was exciting to me on the '76 Olympic team. Then when Ray turned pro, I enjoyed following his career. That coupled with my mother buying me & my brother the TitleBout boxing game (much to my father's dismay) made me a fan for life.
