it didnt actually save boxing but it got attention from most people who arent die hard boxing fans. and it was the most selling ppv of all time even though it was a snoozer![]()
Nope. It was more like that racing game that gives you more time when you hit a checkpoint.
And what's up with Oscar's 'mean' face? C'mon, he's much too pretty for anybody to buy that. Even with his Vulcan haircut.
Oops
Those pink gloves sure didn't save boxing.
Had to poke fun, I like Mayweather though!
It was cool that boxing got mainstream media coverage leading up to that fight, but the downside was it forced us to listen to people talk about that "Fight to Save Boxing" bullsh**.
Boxing didn't need saving, and one fight is never going to make or break it.
First I agree with SweetPea. Boxing doesn't need saving.
I think it really put a dent in people's perception of boxing. I mean, there was nothing at stake. no belt, no legacy, no action, no plot (outside of Mayweather Sr training his son or whatever they did with trainers), no heart, no guts, no blood, a lot of fake trash talking. It was closer to WWF if you ask me.
I think that it got a lot of people to do something they hadn't done in a long time and just watch some boxing, but nobody witnessed anything except an old man who can't throw a jab (only thing he could do to win the fight) and a prime PBF backpedaling his way to victory. IMO. Neither guy showed that they really wanted to win that fight.

Very glad that the rematch has not come off. That does not even look like Floyd really, might want to eat a few prune's or something![]()
I think the fight really made people remember boxing, it certainly has seemed like there have been way more BIG fights in boxing since that one. I think that fight got a lot of other guys off their asses to face eachother.
I am surprised to hear many boxing fans (not just casual ones) diss this fight. Let's remember, we have 2 of boxing's greatest boxers ever and you expected them to go in the middle of the ring and just punch away Rock 'em Sock 'em style? Both fought cautiously and smart, tactic fight.
Danny,
Gotta agree with you. They both made a lot of money. Not only that but they both walked just fine out of the ring unlike others who make money and almost have to be carried on a stretcher after the fight. You know who I am talking about.

NO.
But I'm guessing the one on Dec. 6 will... because of the guy replacing PBF's place...
.
This bout hurt boxing, if it did anything. It didn't attract people who hadn't watched boxing before....because it was as shitty as John Ruiz fights. I mean based on that fight, if I had never watched boxing before......and thought that fight was as good as it gets......my ass would be on a tennis forum with legion right now.
And die hard fans knew it would be shitty before it started. The actual event just confirmed our suspicions. It was like a presidential race.....just two people fighting and you are cheering for the one you dislike less.
This was a fight to attract popped collar frat boys, Taeth, and other people to have a small homoerotic snack parties. I think it is cute.
Anyone that thinks they are bigger than a sport and are saving it......that is egotistical beyond reason. Mark my words: History will not shine favorably on PBF or ODLH.

I honestly didn't find this fight boring at all i enjoyed it, it was actually a bit of a better fighter than i expected. Plenty of skill and some good exchanges, and it was a good competitive fight for atleast 9 rounds until Floyd Mayweather went into a 2nd gear.
I think this fight could have overall hurt it from a casual fan standpoint... They hear about it... Buy it and then see it's garbage...![]()
