Back to the post, again,a poor thread,a draw or split victory is not being found out in any sense of the word! That is a complete over exaggeration,I see it like this.MAB did not really want to fight Rocky, heck Rocky did nothing to get his shot, and MAB thought he was going make history by beating Chavez but when that was cancelled, maybe he found it difficult to get motivated for this one? In any case,I expect to see an improved MAB fighting Pacman early next year hopefully!

I agree with the game . Barrera didnt really want this fight . I suspect motivatrion was a problem and as he walked into the ring smiling with the fans he didnt have the burning intensity weve seen in his big fights . He even started the first couple of rounds like he fought Pedan . jabs movement but it was like he was just going through the motions . He realisd he was in a fight at the end of the 3rd and he was dealing with the facial damage more so than Rockys 1 dimensional style .

Surprisngly though he was still able to fight at pace and at times went back to his old brawling style . He fought back cuz he had to but I think his natural stamina is starting to fail him now . It was very hard for him in there but like a true champ there was no quit in him . He deserved it in the end but it puts a new light on a possible pac rematch

CC for being a realist ,I know you are a massive MAB fan but I don't see how he could handle Pacman towards the later rounds if their fight went that long. Juarez was powerful and did damage,Pac is just sooo much more. I wish prime MAB fought Pac,I'd take Mab anyday!

no the difference between Hatton and Barrera is that MAB has fought and looked well against GREAT opposition, and another thing is that Barrera has been doing it for already 16 yrs, unlike Hatton, the years and wars are catching up to him and well he doesn't have that many great fights left. for his wear and tear i think he looked great

You come to Ricky hatton who last week won a very close but unanimous decision over a 26-1 fighter who also happened to be a world champion, as wel as bein a naturally heavier fighter.

Strange how hatton gets labelled 'over rated' whereas the worst Barrera gets is 'exciting'

Also seems strange how a lot of u guys congratulate juarez on being a great fighter and 'the future' of the super featherweight division.

How come there isn't such plaudits for collazo? I think i have only seen Wacko give collazo the deserved credit.

IMHO both fights were very exciting and rather than bag on any of the fighters, we should congratulate and thank all 4 fighters for providin very good entertainment and value for money. At the end of the day any one of these fighters has more courage then the whole of this forum combined. They are the guys layin it all on the line....we are jus the guys sittin comfortably behind our keyboards, picking reasons to fault them.
Sorry, I missed it mate, did Barrera declare today that he was abandoning his jr. lightweight campaign to go back down to feather?

And if Ricky had been fighting for 16 years and had been steadily on everyone's p4p and elite lists for close to 10 of those years, constantly proving himself against the best, and if then Collazo was a well-respected and YOUNGER (six years) fighter on the rise, i think he'd get labeled as "being on the way to the end of a great career/ starting to show some cracks from age, etc." rather than "overrated/ maybe not that great in the first place." It's a bad analogy.
I never once said hatton was on his way to being a great. And i'm solely comparing the fights of this last weekend and the weekend before. I'm not comparing there overall careers. Oh and Ricky said he would take the best available at either weight.

    Av 1 back .

Heres to Barrera beating Pac at super bantam in his prime years He could keep pace then for 12 rounds and remain throwing classy combos with power and keep his defence water tight .

On Saturday he struggled and although he fought well I could see he was well knackered . Between rounds his head was down and at times his jab was to keep Juarez off him whilst he got his breath . It could be that he had a bad night and greats comeback so we'l wait and see . Maybe he just needed a wake up call cuz he looked like he was going through the motions alot in the early goings . I expect him to be more focused against Pac though

I must admit in the 4th round with his bloody nose after getting wobbled I thought it was guna be a bad night . Barrera was out of his comfort zone and it looked like the Pac fight all over again . Fortunatley Juarez doesnt apply pressure well and doesnt throw that many shots otherwise Barrera could have lost . Im actually surprised he had as much stamina as he did and looking back at the replay he actually dished out alot of offense to Juarez at times . In the end I think he was a deserving winner but there cant be too much left in the tank . With a bit of luck Morales adds afew more miles to Pacs clock in the fall

This is not the 1950's any more mate.

People may charge me, possibly quite rightly, of lacking a contemporary view of boxing in the 21st Century. But even I accept that the ending of a challenger needing to dominate a champion to get a points win, is a good thing. And virtually everybody was saying as far back as Holyfield/BoweII it was a good thing.
Did you just call me mate like we was friends or something?

    We're still rivals Britkid

And sometimes I wish it was back in the 1950's when fighters had guts and actually fought the best with our without titles they fought the best.

It does, but it's an expression in Britain. I call a taxi drivers "mate" when they pick me up from the pub.

You don't generally call women "mate". Maybe call them "doll" or "sweetheart" if you're feeling particularly confident

    I reserve "dollface" for Missy.
