Where would them four wins leave him in an alltime P4P list? thoughts??
in my eyes he has nothing left to prove. even if he comes back and makes margarito the so called "terminator" look like a damn fool, people will still say he has to fight paul, cotto, mosley, etc. well fuk that he doesnt have to do NADA his legacy is already cement.

I think there are three fights that can cement Mayweather's legacy in this order
    1. If Pacquaio beats Oscar, then IMO Mayweather has to fight Manny to remain fighter of the decade.
    2. Paul Williams or Miguel Cotto, both are viewed as Mayweather's potential biggest challenge.
    3. Antonio Margarito: I think this is an easier fight then Cotto or P.Williams for Mayweather to be honest, but Margarito gets the credit of beating Cotto, and pretty soon Mosley.

One other one down the road is Andre Berto, I personally see Berto as the hardest opponent for Mayweather because of his unbelievable speed, I think Berto will cement his own legacy in the next few years by beating Clottey, Judah, Cotto, anyone around his size in the welterweight division. Then this would be a huge fight for Mayweather to come back to, but I am not sure if he will be able to beat prime Berto.

what floyd is missing a real war in his fight record, but prob not got that cos he is so good.

If he stays retired he will still of been one of the greatest of past couple of decades

Fear Termagarito .I'd be happy if he would grace us with his presence and just fight one of them......just one ??If he stays retired Imo,I think that not meeting any of them while many are fighting one another in a stacked division will be an asterisk on his Legacy.

Floyd could have already been cemented if he would have bothered to stay in a division long enough to clean out all the top guys not just claim a title seek a few mediocre defenses then run to another division....He only did so at 130...

At 135 he fought Castillo twice,Sosa and N'dou...he should have had a fight with Cassamayor the man people were looking at as the divisions bad boy

At 140 he fought Corley, Gatti, and Brusles...The Corley win was his best...Brussles was not revered much and we all knew Gatti was almost done (Not that PBF would not have beaten him at any time)...He should have fought Cotto or Tszyu

At 147 PBF fought Judah who was in a mental tirade and had lost to Spinks and Baldomir...Sharmba Mitchell had been fighting journeymen so little respect was earned there....He could have stuck around for Margarito...Beaten Cintron who was highly thought of then...Enticed a Mosley bout....

For as good as PBF is at times it seemed like he was more interested in looking good on paper rather then in the ring with a legit dangerous opponent that makes fans remember you

In 5 years who will remember his wins over Baldomir, Mitchell, N'Dou, Brusles or Sosa?

But they will remember the wins over PBF, Castillo, Corrales....Why? because they are men with legacy's of their own

Unlike guys like Calzaghe PBF choose who he fought and did not there were no promoters dictating his bouts...Plus as mentioned before he necer had a real signiture bout...

He will be remembered for his skills but not for his determinartion to fight the best

It realy depends on what u mean by cementing legacy i think.

If he wants his legacy to be a former P4P number 1 who won the WBC title in 5 divisions, and was one of the best fighters of his era, then he has done that and that is a pretty good legacy.

If cementing his legacy means being the greatest fighter of his era, and maybe top 20 P4P all time well he is darn close but may need one or two more big name fights to do that, and could easily do so.

If cementing means the greatest fighter ever then he is nowhere near, and because older fighters are looked upon with rose coloured glasses he never will be. To be top 5 P4P all time he'd probably have to win 5 more top line fights and beat someone of note at 160.

Reality is his legacy is already very good, probably top 3 of current fighters, is that enough?

I myself want Floyd Mayweather to return. Seriousley. Looking from a hatrid view makes you forget and block out the talent the guy has. I've come to look from a different persepctive after watching a few more of his fights (Excluding Baldomir uhh). He's a superb fighter. And I actually quite like his brash tone. I hope he comes back and fights a genuine welterweight though.

I really hate to say this but I feel the sport of boxing is missing somewhat without Floyd Mayweather. The cocky, undefeated, loud mouth, slick champion who NOBODY can beat.

I would loveeee to see him come back and fight anyone..

floyd was never in a war because of his style.. hit and not get hit..

i'm pretty sure his only fight that wasn't a UD or a TKO/KO was his SD against DLH, and that was the closest he's come to losing a fight..

when you have someone so much better than who he fights, there will be no war.. With that said, as many people have already mentioned, Floyd won't get a lot of people respect simply because of his style.. I mean, he fought some great fighters, and was able to make most of them, if not all of them, look a level below him.. So when people talk about Gatti, and how he was a blood and guts guy, had his series with Ward, and never stayed down and people admire him for that.. just remember what floyd did to him..

I agree with Spicoli. Just fight one of the top guys. Margarito is the best opponent.

    A couple conditions though.

    1. Before the fight don't talk like you are going to go for a knockout.

    2. Don't run the whole fight and try to win a decision without any blood or bruising on yourself or your opponent.

    3. Then if he wins, shut up. Keep him away from the microphone. He's a terrible public relations guy. He just comes off all wrong and fake. Let your actions speak for themselves and you won't have to constantly argue your own legacy.

For me the whole problem with PBF is he's fraudulent. He talks like a ko artist then fights slick and boxes. The problem is he says one thing then does another. Just be who you are. If you are the slickest fighter around, be that. He screws it up by trying to be someone else. Live off what you do and fight the best opposition you can, then hang em up while you are on top, that's a cement legacy.
