I think a big aspect is that Jones doesn't have the style to carry on into his older years.. He relied on a killer instinct, explosive one punch 'knock your head off' blows, being pretty much unhittable (unless he was drawing a guy in to knock his head off). Without the killer instinct, the unhittableness. The knock your head off punches, he isn't left with anything at all to beat a half decent fighter that is even going to provide a decent amount of pressure... In his day though, his qualities made him an amazing fighter.. Almost like, a Mayweather defence, but if Mayweather could leap forward and knock guys out in 2 or 3 rounds, that was what Roy did, and why he was such a lovable fighter..
The qualities just havn't carried over through the years..

B-Hop's qualities have always been Nitty gritty, resourceful, frustrating, grind away at opponent - And you can see that it worked for him throughout his whole career, and even at an older age, he can still use all those qualities to keep him in fights with the P4P best guys out there...

I really wished Roy had done more in this fight and risked more.. It's hard to see the young Roy in this old version.. it's disheartening especially for a fan.. I myself am going to forget his last 5 or 6 years, and remember the glory days.. And count his latest performances on the fact he just didn't have the quality and style that was going to lend itself to fighting during older age.. But it was those qualities and style that made me love him as a fighter in the first place... So still got Love for Roy...

Just he should stay out of the ring now as I don't think anyone can see him pulling out a turning back the clock performance...

I also think it will be taking away from any fighter who tries to take a fight with Roy after this... He didn't put enough in past the first few rounds.. And any fighter that wants to make a fight with him and is prepared to use him as a punching bag on the ropes for 9 rounds, they should give it a miss and find a younger hungrier opponent.

Joe is a great fighter even if it was a shell of the prime RJJ, Calzaghe still schooled him. At the end of the match he gave Roy his due and was classy about it. Joe doesn't need to prove anything. You may not like his style, but what he does, he does best.

Calzaghe showboats when he's in the zone. When he's not in the zone he doesn't showboat. Calzaghe was using his showboating to dishearten a showboater.

Jones did what he could with what he had left at this point of career. It really is that simple and their is nothing disgraceful about it!!He displayed great heart. To have expected him to reinvent himself and deny his many years is asking the impossible.
