Ok guys that signed up for the fantasy league, get your line-ups situated, We have enough people now, So I will set the draft to "ready" later this week.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
God being a Canucks fan is a awful thing.
The team is 1st in their division, 3rd in the West, 5th OVERALL, exceeding all expectations, clicking as a team in a way we haven't seen in years, exhibiting great chemistry, and our goalie and captain - the best in the world - is playing as good as he ever has.
Well, Roberto Luongo, again - the best goalie in the league, hurt his groin on Sat. in Pitts so bad that he needed to be helped off the ice. Rumors are swirling that he is out at least 2 months (though nothing has be confirmed).
At least my two secondary teams, the Bruins and the Red Wings, are ripping shit up, but this is just terrible and pretty much par for the course as a 'Nucks fan.
I'm surprised you haven't exploded over the Burke situation yet CFH.
LOL@ secondary teams. I have one team and i hate everyone else.
I've made my feelings known about Burke already, no need to beat a dead horse. I actually think he's the wrong guy for the Leafs, he's never really had to build a championship team. The Canucks only got past the 1st round once with him at the helm, and many of the major pieces were already in place in Anaheim. Burke did a great job of putting them over the top, but this time he's not going to have an existing framework to work with. He's the most overrated GM in the league IMO.
They were my two teams when I was a kid. My Gramps, who took me to almost all my practices and games, was a huge Bruins fans, and I loved them during the Moog-Neely era. The Wings were my favorite team as a teenager because of Yzerman, I watched them go from absolute shit to one of the best dynastys the league has ever seen. I didn't start cheering for the Canucks as my favorite team until I started watching hockey again in my early twenties. I had abandoned hockey and hadn't watched the sport for several years before then.
I actually liked the Bruins then too. Randy Burridge is from the same town as me and Neely was a bad ass.
They're doing great right now, but they had stretches like this last year too. I'm actually rather optimistic about this season if Luongo can get with within 2 months, but look at the team's history. It is one of the most dismal franchises in the history of the league. They went 16 years without icing a winning team. That breeds a lot of pessimism amongst fans.
Remember, this is a team that was rumored to have managed to fuck up getting Gretzky.
