    Default Kessler v. Hopkins

Knowing Kessler was travelling to New York to see the fight, I wondered whether the would call out Hopkins or Dawson. Sure enough, Kessler said he wanted Hopkins.

Judging from Hopkins' fight with Pavlik I'd have him favourite, but i'd expect Kessler to be able to get off more than Kelly. I think people will at least have learned not to pick against Hopkins by KO ever again .

It's an intriguing and meaningful fight, but I doubt it'll happen. Kessler's people will see it as an awkward fight while Hop might think that there's nothing much to gain from fighting the already beaten Kess.

It would be similar to Bernard Hopkins vs Jermain Taylor, with Mikkel Kessler using his jab and outworking Bernard Hopkins in some rounds. But i think Bernard Hopkins gets the nod this time.

Mikkel Kessler isn't as fast as Jermain Taylor or as fluid, he is pretty robotic although very skilled. I see Mikkel Kessler losing by about 3 rounds.

I think it makes a lot of sense for Kessler because Bhop is a big name and it may be Bhop's best option right now.

Kessler could fight the winner of Taylor and Lacy, but I thought the Froch v. Pascal winner was set to fight that winner. Who else is there? He beat Andrade, who arguably beat Bute, and Bute doesn't want a Kessler fight after suffering a knockout (even if he won the fight). Fighting Hopkins now, and if he wins, fighting Taylor/Lacy v. Froch/Pascal winner makes the most sense.

Bernard doesn't need to fight Taylor again and Calzaghe won't grant a rematch. I guess Jones, but Jones should retire.

I don't think their styles mesh well at all (does Bernard's style ever mesh well?) I am tired of the young fighting the old.

    Kessler should fight Dawson
Hopkins should fight Jones or Calzaghe then retire.

If people base there comparison on the hopkins/pavlik fight then they are in for a rude awakening.

i cant see hopkins pulling off a performance like that again, hard to pick a winner.

kessler has much better fundamentals than pavlik and is much stronger, hopkins wouldnt bully him,no way
Super Middleweight also acknowledge as Kessler's Kingdom when Calzaghe has retire

This would be a very dumb fight for Kessler except for the name Bernard Hopkins. Sure Kessler would get paid handsomely but what would he have to win. Bernard has nothing to lose and Kessler has everything to lose. Bernard is frustrating he dosen't go down,he fouls you repeteadly, and he always seems to win the judges over with counterpunching 1 at a time. I think Kessler should just wait to fight the winner of Lacy vs Taylor or fight Froch.

I totally agree with the idea of "out with the old in with the new." I just think that Kessler could make the fight with Dawson that much more monumental if he was coming off a win against Hopkins, and for that matter, Dawson could make the fight that much more interesting coming off a win against Hopkins too. I don't think Hopkins wants anything to do with Dawson, but he may feel differently about Kessler.

Kessler's style would work as well with Bernard as anyone's would, which doesn't say much of course.

I think Hopkins would be favorite and I think he wins a decision.

But I'd still back my boy Kess and would bet on him.

Calzaghe was able to overwhelm, bully and even hurt Kessler. I can see Hopkins easily doing the same.

Kessler comes in straight lines which is perfect for hopkins accurate right hands and counter punches and hasn't show the ability to adapt in fights which you need to be able to do against Hopkins.

    Hopkins wins a decision.

If the version of Hopkins that showed up against Pavlik stepped in the ring he beats Kessler.....

I wish it was that version that showed up against Calzaghe

Dont ya think styles make fights though ... and I think B Hop had Pavs number all day long ... I dont think Kessler would be quite as one dimentional as Pav and would also present a naturally bigger and stronger opponent who has a better style to cope with B Hop....

Thats how I see it .. simply put I dont think B Hop would be allowed to fight the same fight bud ... but who knowes, its just my opinion.
