It is the day Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. The "Christmas tree" is a throwback to a pagan tradition, but it is in celebration of something different.
It is absurd that someone who does not believe in Christ feels "leftout" of the Holiday. That is just an excuse to take a stab at Jesus. Not Muhammad not a "miracle of oil" and not Buddah. The God they denounce on those signs is the Christian God.
Except that December 25th was allready considered the birthday of the pagan Sun-God,the first Christ Mass doesnt occur until the 4th century.
Add on the book of Luke mentions his birth at census time which occurs right after harvest not in the teeth of winter, Christ was probably born in October or September
