This is a fight that really bothers me because De La Hoya wants to be consider as the big "Mexican Warrior" and I have to admit he has been great, and I have been a big fan of him. But, it really bothers me that he is trying to gain his glory trying to beat a significantly smaller opponent. He selected a small body with a big name. If he wanted to get this credit, then he had to fight the # 1 of the division, Margarito (and loose with honor), but this is just my opinion.
But, anyways his trick is working and I will watch the fight. I guess that on the paper De La Hoya should win, but I am starting to have this feeling that De La Hoya at least will visit the canvas courtesy of a straight left from Pacman. I feel that Oscar will take a lot of risks with the smaller guy who is very quick (a punching machine), and there is when the clean shot may come.
I will be wishing luck to the Pacman in this challenge...
Puerto Rico, Small Island, Big Champions!!!
It takes two to tango. So why single out Oscar for taking this fight. Pac is a superstar, Pac has plenty of better and more meaningful fights at 130 and 135. But Pac, just as much as Oscar, wants the "event" fight and lots of $$$. I personally think both fighters should be ashamed of themselves for doing this fight. They both could make plenty of money fighting people in their natural weight class. As for the fight itself...unless Oscar has become shot as a fighter or comes in totally unprepared...he has no business losing. Size, power, chin, and skill advantage are all in his favor. Sure...Pac will be faster...but Oscar fought a competitive fight with one of the fastest AND the most skilled fighter in the buiz...Floyd. But we are supposed to believe that Pac will be so fast and devastating...that Oscar will be in trouble?! As for those who think Pac will knock Oscar out...you need to have a word with yourselves. Oscar has a tremendous chin...one that has been tested by guys like Trinidad, Mosley, Quertey, etc, etc.....fighters who are naturally bigger and stronger than Pac. Not to mention...if Oscar's excellent jab is firing...with his size and reach advantage...how will Pac come in to land? Pac also has a bad habit of lunging on his punches...leaving him unbalanced....a recipe for disaster when Oscar lands his left hook. But hey...anything is possible. And if Pac wins...mad props to him. But if you look at this fight logically...it's a joke.
ODLH seemes to get hit a lot in his fight with steve forbes and pac hits harder and is faster so i actually think that pac has a chance of wining. Oscar is bigger than pac but so was valuev to chagev and paul williams to CQ
Recent PAC sparring...
.
Reason why Pac will beat ODLH
1) It's not the night of the jab
I agree Pac wont win.
I sence something cutting underlying your post in regards to matters other than the thread title.
It wasnt a quiet board after any fight as per usual .
Some people get it right others wrong, it varies who as on all other sites it always does.
You make out here like we all back the same fighters and are always wrong and run off and hide.
Is there something else you feel you need to get out?
Why hang sh!t on the site name when you're a member too?
You think you're from somewhere better? Or is it the syndrome of lets make someone look wrong, so I look more right in front of the crowd?
I honestly hope its something else and you actually end up contributing something new.

Though obviously Forbes is not the physical beast Pac is...Forbes is a slick, counter puncher...a hard to hit and hurt fighter. Pac is pure offense. For all of his improvements, Pac doesn't rely on his technical skills or defense. He is going to try and wear and opponent out with his relentlessness. The problem is...he is fighting a guy who not is not only bigger and stronger than he is...he is fighting a guy who has a great chin and more skill than him. Pac isn't going to outslick and counter Oscar. He is going to try and throw flurries. It ain't going to work. If Pac tries to box...he will get outboxed. If he tries to brawl..guess what...Oscar will hurt him. Also, Pac isn't a one punch KO fighter. He wears people down...AT 130 and 135 people!!! Yet some of you think that Roach's mitts flying off in practice means he is going to hurt a guy who has only been knocked down by Bernard Hopkins?!!!! Dream on.
i heard through the grapevine that victor ortiz, one of oscar's sparmates and the same guy who suppossedly beat up oscar in sparring, thinks pac will win this fight. he suppossedly said that oscar lacks the power to knock manny out, that oscar is hittable and too old to fight manny. Ortiz should know because he was once a sparring partner to Manny. he allegedly also said that "manny is too fast and too strong for oscar. you can't see where his punches are coming, and not an easy target. you trap him a moment but just a fraction of a second and he's gone. And he's very durable too. I connected some big punches but i am surprised he is still standing. He was under my weight category when we sparred before, how much more now that he weights higher than me now? Manny now should be very dangerous. A lot of people thought that this fight is a mismatch. And I agree because Oscar is no match against manny". this is pretty much unconfirmed but the fellow this report is coming from has been consistently quite accurate with a lot of previous insider infos he's come out with so far.
i do know that oscar had problems when he sparred with the midget ivan calderon before and that one has been confirmed by calderon himself. oscar SHOULD be the overwhelming favorite to win but there are too many other factors and intangibles to consider that can tilt the chances of pac to his favor. the first time i heard this fight mention i thought it was ludicrous and a farce, but looking at all the reports and inside information coming from both camps has made me into a believer that pac will surprise most so called experts who said that pac doesn't belong in the ring with de la hoya.
can't wait to see the fight. one thing for sure whether if oscar is really too big for manny or not, both of them are not backing down which should make for a very exciting match.
I think Manny is the underdog anyway so Im backing Manny,I have to.
If I was bettin money it would be the other way round.
I have consistently predicted before that Oscar will win this one but as the fight is fast approaching (together with the different reports I've heard), it seems that the table is turning in favor of Pac.
Andre,
As to addicted_to_boxing, he is the guy I've been telling people before that deserves to be neg repped. He comes here only when Pacquaio has a fight and gives only negative comments on Pac.
