Taylor wouldn't be able to handle Joe's pressure. Also, Jermain's best punch is the left jab, and that's a punch that's tough to land against a southpaw like Joe... just ask Kessler.
Wasn't Winky Wright a southpaw pressure fighter? Taylor landed a few punches on him. Whether or not you liked the decision in that match, Wright definitely did not dominate Taylor.

Taylor seems to fight up or down to the level of his competition; he might not beat Calzaghe, but he would give him a fight.

Yeah but take Winky, make him bigger, make him faster, give him his legs back, you don't think then he would have dominated Taylor?

    Probably, yes.

But Joe also doesn't have the defense that Wright does. And I don't think Joe's speed and stamina would look as great against Jermain Taylor as they were against the two 40-year olds he fought this year.

Calzaghe's undefeated, of course it's hard to picture how anyone would beat him. But it's hard for me to picture him dominating Jermain Taylor since no one's ever done that before either. Pavlik knocked him out, but he didn't embarrass him. It's ridiculous to suggest that a guy who beat Bernard Hopkins twice would be "beaten before he signs the contract."
