I think he will have troubles defensively against Pacquaio, if he uses better footwork maybe he won't, but Manny is really underappreciated for his ability to fight off the back foot, I mean he did it so well against David Diaz, people forget the first knockdown of Morales was a counter punch of the ropes, and the knockdown of Marquez was a beautiful counter punch. I think Oscar can handle Pacquiao's power, but the question concerning Oscar for me is similar to Roy JOnes Jr., will he be able to retaliate to those punches? He is far fresher than Jones, and his output is way higher then Roy, I think he likely wins this, but it isn't the 95/5 odds against him I thought was the case with Jones-Calzaghe, I think its more 70/30 or 65/35
What does Calzaghe Vs Jones have to do with this fight, why are you comparing something else to this. It does not take away that the size differential is insane, a complete mismatch. And just because Pac landed good counter punches against smaller opposition does not mean that it will effect the likes of Oscar De La Hoya
Several months back, even an idea of a Hatton fight was considered a bad one and only few whom some guys here considered as 'crazy fanatics' (ok, I wasn't one of them, though I don't mind being called one)even entertained the idea of an Oscar fight. But now, they have been bombarding us with all kinds of opinions and all of a sudden, 'there Is a fight!' or so it seems. Now as the fightnight gets near, even the opinions of the usual boxing X-perts here at the saddos seem to even out more and more. And me, I'm becoming confused myself. So Bookkeeper, or anyone else, tell me straight, is there a fight indeed? or is it just a well-disguised mismatch re-packaged by the HBO and the media into a real-deal fight, just like those junk mortgage bonds repackaged into a nice investment deal that were supposed to earn zillions of dollars but ended up in the dumps?

...and in the meantime...

...pac by ko with nice belly shot.

Pacfan you have to realize that we are all boxing fans, so no matter what kind of mismatch it is we will try to find an excuse of watching the fight. Couple weeks back when Joe and RJJ were fighting people were saying that Roy finally lost the weight and packed on the real muscle and that he was back to were he used to be (hyping the fight) then after the fight they were talking about how washed up he is and that he should retire. Don't get me wrong fighting Oscar is like winning the lottery, it's everyone's biggest payday so everyone wants that fight ( I don't blame Pac), but Pac just moved up to 135 for one fight and he is going against a guy who had a short stint at 160. Oscar should be about 10-15 pounds heavier on fightnight ( Maybe more)
