He took 11 rounds of beating, he had 1 round t go. There was nothing hatton was going to do to stop him. Buddy should have let him go the distance. For a fighter, especially one like Paulie, it has to be humiliating.

Paulie got absoloutely took to school last night.
I loved every single SECOND of the fight.
Seeing that cocky, brash, gay ass Italian get beatdown like an amateur by an "MMA fighter" he called Rickyhas made my weekend
I still can't get over the fact it weren't even close.
McGirt done the right thing IMO.

WALKING IN A HATTON WONDERLAND
Boy I certainly am walking in a Hatton wonderland![]()
^Just make sure Hatton doesn't fight DLH or Mayweather again and you can stay in that Wonderland for the rest of his career.
I was very impressed with Hatton.
"It's on my record now and even in 50 years it will say I got stopped in this fight. That's always going to stay with me, always going to bother me."
That says it all IMO, maybe to us its just sparring the guy of losing 1 more round, but to him its his legacy, its what he pours his blood and sweat into, Buddy had no right to do that.

Wrong, Buddy had every right to do that. PM had zero as in no chance of winning. Hatton was landing heavy shots almost at will at that point. If you are training someone what's the point of watching him get pummeled while having nothing to give back. This is further compounded by the fact from the 2nd round on PM was not engaging at all, he wasn't listening to his corner and was doing nothing to adjust to Hatton's style.
Half ass jab, duck deep to the right and clinch repeat ad nauseum.
Paulie used to have much better footwork and used to let his hands go a lot more, I think Cotto beat that out of him.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

now that i think about yea maybe its a good thing the fight did get stopped but only because 1 reason and that is because Paulie had no chance of winning. but on the other hand he should have kept it going but only so he wouldnt have that tko loss on his record. but now he does and theres nothing he can say really cause he was getting beat the fuk up anyway.

Paulie doesnt have alot of power on a good day,his hand was obviously hurt again out there. He'd lost all but the first round, and his power hand was hurt, whats the point of letting Hatton use him for a punching bag for another round and a half?
I usually dont like corner stoppages, but I could see this one. He was just getting pummeled at that point, with no real hope of doing anything about it

I say it was a good call by McGirt. And HBO commentators agreed with him.
PROTECT YOURSELF AT ALL TIMES.
My view on the stoppage was that McGirt did it because he was embarassed. PM had made it clear he just wanted to hang on and go the distance, this doesnt make him a "warrior" its the cowards way out to spoil at every oppurtunity. It would have been a better spectacle, he would have earned his pay and earned more respect if he had just thrown caution to the wind and started throwing. Personally I would prefer to get KTFO going for that 1% chance than hang on and never know.
Definitely could have survived, but think he deserved a TKO on his record, completely dominated and outclassed as he was.
Not something I have seen discussed anywhere else, anyone got any views on this?

Paulie was not even trying.....It would have been different if he would have went out with giving all his effort but he was doing squat...When the guy is not even throwing the jab then WTF...
It may have been nthe best thing for him...Not so much for the sake of not absorbing punches but as a mental lesson....Put it in his head that if you are not giving it your all then there is no reason to be in there....
He looked out for his fighter like he should have....It was for the best all around....

Malignaggi for some reason just did not seem to let himself get in the fight.....Would not even throw the jabs like Buddy was telling him to....No excuse for that type of performance....Not even a lame journeyman would have put up such a poor performance......Maybe people are right when they say Cotto ruined him....
But to gloat over such a win over such a poor performance is just as annoying as you feel Malignaggi is/was.....Because Remember it was Hatton who just under a year ago was the ANNOYING, COCKY, BRASH...fighter who was calling PBF overrated.....you remember back when the song picked up that other verse....

McGirt gives the best advice that boxers never listen too, i have no specific instances to use as examples but his fighters always listen to his advice and then go out and do the same damn thing.....either that or mcgirt is just plain bad luck. Paulie would have still lost but why he stopped the fight i'm not really sure kirkland looked way more beat up in the previous fight.

Excellent corner work in my opinion, given the fact that his corner had warned him already to get productive or they would pull him out ... they are the ones that look towards him getting through a safe as is possible career & are not there to preserve a fighters view of his pride at the cost of his safety...

Sorry bro but thats way off.Accumulative sustained beatings are much more costly than being able to say "I went 12 rounds" is meaningful.Look at it this way...Now that he made such a spectacle out of it and has in effect changed the subject from the fact that he was not going to win on the cards and waiting on Paulie to land a miracle brick is like waiting on snowfall in the desert....he can always say Buddy shafted him.But it was Hatton doing the beating, plain as day.Buddy is not some Trainer speaking and acting from a far,he has 80 fights inside those ropes,Paulie should not take this personal and concentrate on executing a game plan.
