Who beat Malignaggi better?

I'm not a Cotto or Hatton groupie, but I do think Cotto gave him a greater beating, but this is tied into the fact the Malignaggi chose to engage more in the Cotto fight (although he he did still hold a lot). The stoppage is irrelavant. I almost feel bad for Ricky here though, he gave one of the best performances of his career, he deserved to have someone fight back and put some effort in.

The cotto fight was more competitive but Paulie took more punishment.

I give the edge to Hatton though.

It does depend on the definition of "beat." Hatton dominated the fight against Paulie better than Cotto did but I think Cotto did more damage to him.

Lets see, Cotto knocked him down, broke his jaw, put him in the hospital, and took months out of his boxing career.


Yeah Cotto did. Everyone is high off of Hattons performance but you have to remember the fact that Cotto fought Malignaggi with a broken hand and still did all of that to him. And Malignaggi would have probably seen the final bell if Buddy hadn't thrown in the towel.

Cotto gave him a worse beating, and if Cotto and Hatton were in the ring together Cotto would pretty much do the same to Hatton. Hatton no matter who his trainer is isn.t gonna outbox or bully Cotto. It took someone like Antonio Margarito to actually break Cotto down, and Hatton is no Margarito

But since we are talking a worse beating, Cotto, Cotto did it one handed.

To me Malignaggi has never really been the same since the Cotto fight. His decline had started. He struggled after. And Cotto was weight drained in that fight.

Hatton beat Paulie far better.

But....

All this proves is how starved and emmaciated Miguel was at this weight.

Ricky did what Miguel could not though, he broke Paulie's heart...early.

Cotto gave Paulie a better beating early on, but after the first few rounds, Cotto was hardpressed to get anything done. Hatton maintained his edge along the whole fight and was able to remain consistent while Cotto tapered off.
