Didn't he just say Cotto hurt him more?

First time Hatton landed cleanly Paulie was on queer street. After that he just grabbed hold.

You have to say Hatton. Cotto fight might have been more brutal, but it was a much closer fight. Paulie won 4/5 rounds against Cotto and he stunned him.

Paulie is supposed to be a better fighter now with the world title fights under his belt, but he was outclassed big time last night. He was outboxed, out sped, out fought. The speed that Hatton closed the distance had Paulie hesitating, and Paulie didn't want to throw anything of his own because he was scared of what would come back.

A novice (in comparison) Paulie broke his hand and cheekbone(i think) against Cotto and still made it really competitive. Hatton anhialated him.
And what's the point of this useless thread? To imply that Hatton is somehow better than Cotto? Too bad they never met in the ring. That would've settled a lot of moot arguments in the past. Of course, if Hatton would consider going up to 147 to fight DLH, maybe he should have a tune-up first against Cotto (at 147).

    I don't know i didn't start the thread.

There's no point you winking like you know something we don't. Everybody knows Cotto would be too much for Hatton at 147. He's naturally bigger and stronger....and technically a better fighter.

If they had have met in the past it would likely be at 140 where Cotto wasn't as strong. Cotto would have had a lot of problems imo.

I just find it strange that anybody can say Cotto did a better job on Paulie considering he gave away 4 or 5 rounds to a guy who broke his hand. It's the sport of Boxing. Rounds win you fights. If we we're judging street fights then i'd be inclined to say Cotto did a terrific job, but he got hit far too frequently (and stunned) for me to say he did a better job than a guy who hardly got hit and totally dominated every aspect of the fight.

Not knocking Cotto....i love watching him. Just don't think he was as effective at 140 as Hatton has been. 147 = different story.

Clearly Hatton. If Paulie bothered to stand up and actually take part in the fight it would have been over by rd 5.

Fair enough, ono. I still don't get the point of the thread, but I can agree on a lot of your points. I will say that IMO Cotto was pretty damn effective at 140. But as time went on he found it harder and harder to make the weight. He moved up to 147 at the right time.

Yeah he was. He had some great wins.....just don't think his chin was that strong at 140......well the longer he stayed at the weight anyway.

He had a great war with Torres. That was awesome to watch.

Hatton - Cotto should have happened about 3 years ago. It would have been great.

Cotto clearly "damaged" PM more, broke him up in all sorts of ways, but the fight was comepetitive with Paullie winning 4 maybe 5 rounds...The Hatton fight was probably a more one-sided fight with Paullie winning round one, maybe...I would also state that the fighter Cotto faced was far more "lively" with better legs, better jab and more coourage than the fighter that Hatton faced...was it styles? maybe..or was it that Paullie was "changed" after the Cotto fight...no one will know for sure, either way I think Paullie is done...I will say that the reason the Cotto fight was allowed to continue was that it was a reasonably competitive fight from a scoring perspective while the Hatton fight was basically a shut-out with no chance for PM to come back.

Since the Cotto fight was a decision and Paullie did win some rounds I'd have to say that Hatton "beat" him better but MC gave the better "Beat Down" of the two...

    Eh?

How many natural Welters has Cotto fought and how many did he beat?

How can Cotto be techincally better when Ricky totally outclassed Paulie and gave away one round whereas against Cotto people thought Paulie was tough because he was hurting Cotto and winning rounds

    Maybe Cotto is over rated
