It was probably the most awkward timing for a towel throw I've ever seen. Where the hell was his towel in the 6th round of Gatti/PBF?? Or the 9th round of Gatti/Ward? Obviously Paulie doesn't have the kind of fight changing power Gatti has, but nonetheless he deserved to go the distance, or at least go out on his shield.

    DAMN STRAIGHT!!!

It was a bullsh*t stoppage. McGirt was WAAAAAAY off base on this one. Yes, Paulie was losing the fight. But he was still competitive, and conceivably still had that "lucky punch" chance. You saw Paulie's reaction as soon as the fight was stopped. He was beside himself, to the point of shoving McGirt away. He felt humiliated, embarrased. I thought he expressed himself with class, given the circumstances. But he put it very well when he said: "I was hurt a lot more against Cotto, and they let me finish. I'm a lot better than a fight stoppage." He was very gracious to the British fans in attendance.

    Face it... McGirt f*cked up.

Competitive? That's really stretching it imo, not to mention a 'lucky punch chance'. As choked as Paulie seemed that McGirt had stopped it, maybe Buddy was just as agitated that Paulie hadn't tried to execute all night and let his hands go, or show any fire to win? It's pretty tough to say a trainer is "off base" to throw in the towel, he knows his fighter a lot better than anyone else concerned. The only negative I would take from this is that Paulie seems to take solace in the fact that he is so tough, and seems proud to have went 12 with Cotto etc. This might hurt him mentally more than it spared him physically, that is indeed possible. As far as him having any shot in hell to do anything but lose a lopsided UD and take more damage though had it no been stopped, wasn't happening.

I didn't have any problem with it, why let him continue to get beat up for no reason? Its not comparable, like others have said, to Gatti/Ward 1.
