Ive now seen Pascal fight. He is CLEARLY the BEST fighter Froch has been matched with so far. Pascal, like Froch, is a Roy Jones wannabe but he looks faster and sharper than Froch.

People saying he has no power.. he lands plenty of hard and sharp enough straight right hands to me.

I think the Canadians/Americans (think it was mainly Canadians) predicting an easy Froch win haven't SEEN big nose fight.

I've been looking at some Pascal fights and coming forward he looks very impressive and throws all the punches in the book as well a being double quick.
Hope Carl can back him up early and start bossing him about which is how i see him winning this one before a late KO.
This is gonna be some fight too.
    Must see i reckon.

It looks as if it'll iron out nicely stylistically. I'm actually looking forward to it. People can say what they like about big nose, but his hit AND GET hit style may be entertaining with an actual live opponent.

I understand many of the posters here think highly of Carl Froch and expressed what he does well: He hits with power, Above average handspeed, Good ringmanship etc.

I'm not too familiar Pascal although I vagely recall seeing him fight before Miranda beat Banks. What are the conventional criticisms of Jean Pascal? What will Froch try to exploit?

On the other side of the coin: What will be Pascal's gameplan? What advantages does he have?

im thinking that the first couple of rounds will be pascal trying to really gain an advantage with his speed. Carl will figure out what he has and up his tempo a bit and looking to land good accurate shots, if Pascal is getting a bit too big for his boots carl will up the pace even more and this is when it will get interesting. I know pascal has good power and good speed. But footwork is something thats going to make carl shine in this fight. I really think hes going to be able to throw really good power shots from angles which will land flush. Pascal from what I have seen has been hurt by not so powerful punches, sometimes takes silly shots. I think if he gets hurt and slows down, this fight can be over within 5.

Im not underestimating Pascal in the slightest, I know he has a lot of talent, but Carl has the backing of his home fans and is really going to be up for this one. He knows that this fight is it for him and there is no second chance after this.

Im expecting a really strong performance by carl, but he cant be giving away pointless rounds, I dont think he will but he has to really be on his A game for this fight. It will be fully entertaining like most Froch fights are.

I just hope its over in the 5th round though

I feel like a proud parent laying in bed listening to my child fidget and creep round the house excited on Christmas morning.

Poor old Tam, being a fan of Carl Froch this is the first time hes been given something to get excited with anticipation about and he just cant contain himself.

Hopefully for Tams sake he gets what he wants this Christmas and doesnt end up looking like the dissapointed kid that has to look gratefull for what his parents could afford.

Or rather, Tam will stay loyal, though dissapointed with his long appreciation of an unproved quantity when they let him down at their first opportunity.

Pascal is gonna look cute and effective for 3 or 4 rounds until Froch catches him and puts him away. I would be shocked if Pascal makes it to the 8th round. Nice step up for Froch, glad he's finally got a fight for a genuine alphabet title. Don't see Pascal being much of a problem since he IS hittable AND has a weak chin.

Here is a video of Pascal highlights, the gym he is training at, is right by my house/work. Actually did a few training sessions there myself.

In your opinion, how is Pascal's stamina?

Carl Froch and Jean Pascal come face to face

Carl Froch and Jean Pascal come face to face

    03.12.08

Jean Pascal was in confident mood despite being on Cobra territory ahead of his WBC super middleweight show down with the outspoken Nottingham fighter.

Pascal wore a t-shirt depicting a Mongoose attacking a Cobra, he took the mic and declared how he was going to realise his dreams of becoming the WBC Super middleweight champion of the World this Saturday night.

Pascal went on to talk describe his T-shirt "The Cobra is very fearsome, but the mongoose is too fast for the Cobra.

They call Carl the Cobra...well Saturday night, Jean Pascal will be the mongoose" Taunted the unbeaten Pascal.

Froch, sitting back in his chair and oozing his trademark confidence quickly chipped in "My mother ran a lot of pubs throughout Nottingham."

"One of the regulars used to come in and taunt me, saying that he was a mongoose and would always beat the Cobra. I used to whip him at pool and darts."

"Pascal may say he is a mongoose. But he is getting knocked out on Saturday night and he can take his t-shirt home with him. Infact I'll sign it for him" Said Froch.

Froch declared that he was only 1 pound over the 168lb weight limit. Pascal was more coy about his weight and declared that he would 'make the weight' on Friday, suggesting that he may currently be slightly struggling to get to the limit.

Robert McCracken declared that he rated Jean Pascal very highly, but that his chance had come soon for the Candian.

"I've watched Pascal in the gym. He was a very talented amateur and he is going to come into that ring unbeaten and in his mind he is super confident.

But this is Carl Froch's moment and after Pascal has been defeated, he can come again. His chance has come too soon" Said McCracken.

Marc Ramsey, Pascal's trainer said that they had prepared extremely well and that they had not taken any aspect of training lightly. They rated Carl Froch as one of the most dangerous opponents in the division - but also stated that at World level, all opponents can punch.

When Pascal was asked whether or not the recent losses amongst Canadian boxing had any bearing on his confidence Pascal declared "I'm not Steve Molitor - i have come to win"

"We are not tourists. I love England and have been successful here before and I will be again".

Afterwards Froch commentated on how Jean Pascal had an army of masseurs, dieticians and dog's bodies surrounding him. all wearing Team Pascal tracksuits.

"It don't matter how many of his entourage are here. When that bell rings it's just me and him, minus his ass, which will have fell out in the changing room.

"He's an athlete and I'm a fighter - that's the difference. I'm gonna unleash hell on him".
