Tony has always been like that....Tells it like it is...Hell after the Williams loss he stated that he knew it was because of his poor start and taking too long to get into the fight....Even mentioned that he also should have been more productive in the Clottey fight

He also said that will never happen again...And look what he has done since

Im a fan of paul williams, I was rooting for paul in that fight. Its true Tony did start out slow, i remember thinking im glad we no longer have 15 round fights. Cause tony would of stop paul on the 13 round imo.

People obvioulsy need to watch the Williams-Margarito fight again, Margarito couldn't punch against Paul for hte same reason Pavlik couldn't against Hopkins, because both Bernard and Paul had the footspeed to stay outside TOny and Kelly's respective range. They couldn't get off, and when Paul and Margarito were at range, Paul used his vastly superior speed and reach to hit Margarito with ease.

williams was slowing down and tony heating up the pressure in the later rounds. I wouldn't say with ease, that was a tough tough fight for both fighters. I was proud of paul for taking the title from tony the way he did but i was nervous as hell at the later round for paul cause tony was clearly heating up the pressure. I think if tony starts up right away he will beat paul, in the rematch.

It could be an epic trilogy, believe me.

Funny seeing you here discrediting Margarito...oh wait you do that on all the posts where he's mentioned.

i dont think so. Paul clearly won the 12th round and looked like he was gonna take over again. it still would have been a UD for Paul if it was 15 rounds.

Since then he's ducked his chance for revenge against williams for a fight with mosely for less than HALF the money he'da made against williams.

Saw that fight a few years back. That knockdown was in the first round too. marg can back and won by either split or majority decision, but I thought Perez deserved the win.

Here is my response to that post (not that I'm not admitting he didn't duck him):

As recently as two years ago, the top of the welterweight division wanted nothing to do with Margarito. Shane didn't want to fight Margarito; PBF didn't want to fight Margarito. Finally, Margarito is on top of the division. Now, Margarito can pick who he fights. He will fight a lucrative fight with Shane in which he'll probably pulverize the smaller, older Shane. Cotto will definitely beat Jennings (Jennings, a relatively obscure fighter from Great Britain will not beat Cotto in Puerto Rico). Then, Margarito has a highly lucrative rematch with Cotto. Hypothetically, let's say Margarito fought Williams now and lost. The rematch with Cotto would lose some of its steam and/or not pay as well. Moreover, any chance of fighting ODLH flies right out the window. Clearly, ODLH will use any excuse possible to avoid Margarito.

By way of comparison, it would be making the same mistake Pavlik made in taking the Hopkins fight. With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, Pavlik should not have fought Hopkins. Pavlik should have been patient, and hoped for a more lucrative showdown with Calzaghe. Thus, the better business plan is to hope Margarito beats Shane and Cotto and then fight ODLH for a ton of money or fight the bigger name between two tougher challenges in Clottey or Williams.

To argue that Margarito is scared of Williams is completely absurd. Thus far, he has been the only top welterweight willing to get in the ring with Williams!

good points. but i really doubt Oscar will fight him but if he loses to Cotto or SSM he might fight Paul again. Eventually the fight will happen again hopefully, especially if they both get a even bigger status in the sport which will bring alot money for both of them then the match will happen.
