We've never had many top notch fighters. Although I expect that situation will improve down the road when Youngblood wins gold, turns pro, and inspires the entire nation.

Couldn't do much worse. And you are right about the future. Our membership base for boxers just in Ontario alone more then doubled in the last few years...so there is hope.

The initial post implies we had good boxers at one point

In all seriousness, Bute is the 2nd best 168lber in the world, Pascal was never anything more than a decent prospect, Molitor can still come back - the guy who just beat him was stopped in the 3rd round early in his career, and Ngoudju (sp) has shown promise. I'd wager our best fighter right now is George Laraque.

Thanks for rubbing it in our faces.

On the bright side I've heard murmurings regarding a possible showdown between Nikolay Valuev and George Chuvalo if he gets past Evander in December

I was going to say "we're a hockey nation," but a couple have beat me to it.

Plus, our social system precludes the possibility of troubled youth fighting their way out of the ghetto. Even the poor and lazy have playstations. you get one as a free gift with a health card as you enter the country and apply for welfare.

This question would have been much more ennoying after the Molitor or Bute fights. Jean Pascal competed pretty well as an underdog. He's still young, he can improve and I bet he will win the others 2 fights of the trilogy!
