Remember Ed O'neil,Ralph Condit,....pretty abrasive,intrusive refs.Joe Cortez acts like he is in a bad B-movie and someone has just yelled.."Action"...he gos into theatrics

Tony Weeks is a Bi-Lingual Legend

I rank Bayless as the best current ref, with Smoger 2nd and Weeks a strong 3rd.

Bayless gets most of the top Vegas assignments (Oscar-Floyd, Pac-Marquez II, Cotto-Margarito, etc.).

Smoger is the top East Coast ref, I was surprised that he wasn't working Calzaghe-Jones.

Mercante Jr. also impressed me with how he handled Cotto-Judah.

Laurence Cole (Texas) is probably the worst big name ref, with Drakulich a close 2nd.

tony weeks deserves a mention to be fair as ive never seen him make a whole host of mistakes.


Drakulich has been known to jump in unneccesarily a good few times though

If any other ref was reffing there is a good chance that Castillo-Corrales would not have been the great fight that it was, one of the best reffing jobs of all time imo in addition to all the other great things about the fight.
