Basic stuff. I don't understand why, with your high IQ, you would make this so much more complicated than it is.

Hey TM, it's good that your kid is a little genius and all, but there are one or two issues besides ensuring that your kid gets enough mental stimulation and challenge.

IMO one area where schools tend to fail is in the area of developing good work habits, organizational skills, multitasking etc, skills that are pretty important in a professional career. It's not at all easy to teach that stuff. I also pretty much breezed through school without lots of effort. I took tough courses and did well. But I never did develop really good work habits, organizational skills, etc, because I could get by without them. Project management skills? Who me?

A kid who maybe has average smarts who really has to work hard at things maybe has an advantage in this regards. Just a thought.

Being smart at school, getting lots of mental stimulation, does not necessarily equate with good life or career skills.

Odd,we shop at Kroegers and Food Lion and have yet to see a single Banana leaf, not one.Though we do get some occasional nice organic banana's but thats as close as it gets
    Odd that
Melissa should double check with her distributors because we arent seeing it.

Said that they will have some in next week. Yes I called.

Regardless. I don't see how this affects the assignment.
Still just excuses. Or are you stating that your son can't comprehend that banana trees have leaves?

I'd look at it this way. I doubt very much they are expecting most kids to do some sorta thorough indepth analysis and research to whatever the subject matter is...but are likely doing a few things with this project.

Firstly, they are introducing kids to the fact there is a world outside of West Virginia, or w/e a person may live. This is a good start. I remember my first assignment of this sort was on Mexico.

Secondly, I think at this early age they also can get good understanding of a parents commitment to help. Will the parent do all the work? Will the child? Will it be a collective deal?

I know with mine...I had to wrestle the project back from my dad cuz he was more then eager to help as he once went to Mexico and got drunk for a month and still had pictures of it lol
