3 x 3 min rds, going back to the old days.![]()
Pain lasts a only a minute, but the memory will last forever....

I think it may really seperate those with good cardio, and those without.
We've sparred 3 minute rounds in my gym quite a bit, and then a week or so leading up to a fight....then bring it down to 2 minutes. I guess we won't be doing that any more, or atleast I won't. Not sure.
This again poses another problem for me in sparring with so many new members. Whereas they should be training and aiming for 2 min rounds pre comp....fighting in open class am going to be shooting for 3 min rounds.
I still have mixed feelings on it. Just got to 4x2. Suppose will know better after first real fight at 3x3.

I like how they've put so much effort into publicly saying that the females are equal and should be in the olympics etc etc....then they go and change the rules and pretty much say..."Oh yeah, women can't do the 3 x 3, we're going to keep them the same." Lame.

3 x 3's.....That's Great.
3 x 3's at 69kg could be a problem.

why is that Donny?
I don't understnd really why the difference. Why it is 69-75kg in Elite...but 70-75kg in junior. And am also not sure how it will play out, the 14 yr old age restrictions. I am hoping they don't put it there for youth to 69-75. It could pose a problem for nationals...as it is tough enough for me to get to 70, and I'm not at 75. Stuck right in the middle.

Well I do some training all year round....and then escalate the difficulty when i want to be fit. This means I rarely fluctuate past 73-74kg. I haven't been 75 since my shoulder was hurt.
When the weight was 71 I made the weight alright, but the last kilo was slow because there's little to lose. I made 69 more than once and it was ok, but i needed to rehydrate and renourish.
If I enter a tournament now I'll have to be 69 each morning and I don't think thats feasible for me.

ok I see what you mean. Well this is likely my case too, unless I can get something at 75 and just go in light and try to bulk.
I can understand the prob. of trying to make 69 and end up in there weak. plus having to do 3x3 on top of it. So yea...it is a concern for me also...because we are just about exactly the same weight.
I'm walking around 158-159lb ...dead center of 69-75kg.

Im adamant about this,I dont train female boxers,I only train boxers, everybody spars with everybody. If you cant hang, find a nursery.
I expect my female boxers to bring it just as hard as my male fighters, you lace the gloves on,I dont give a crap what sex you are.

I can honestly say (and I'm not bragging by any means) that I'm the hardest worker in my gym. No one even comes close to the effort I put in. This rule really chaps my ass because I'm a slow starter and I get stronger as the fight goes on. Four rounds are good, but I'd like to see 3 x3s. I guess the gym is the only place I'll do that.![]()

Feur lost a fight she was winning because she had a nose dribble. The only explanation we got was,"Refs dont like to see women bleed"
Horse S
She's a boxer,not a housewife,if she can continue, let it roll.
Around the gym she's allmost considered punishment,as in "Guess who your sparring with"
But everybody gets better that way.
Once the breast cups are on,you can barely see the difference anyway

Same here - i think i'd get more out of myself in a longer bout - wouldn't suprise me if it was that way for a lot of female athletes.
We are less explosive than men but the difference in endurance between men and women is a smaller percentage than in power.
We are probably more suited to the longer bouts than the shorter ones if you actually look at our physical make up. Much more able to stick at a high tempo (enjoyable to spectators) for an extra round or minute than we are able to KO someone in the first.
