I know a few that hate him because they are huge Oscar fans. Don't get me wrong most love that guy but like i said a few. I would have to disagree with you btw.. I don't see prime Chavez, beating a prime DLH. Oscar was a great boxer like Medrick and we all know he has a hell of a chin so i don't see him being stop, nor being outbox. Remember a middle weight stop Oscar with a bodyshot so don't bring that up.

Prime JCC left hook to the body would crumple ODH like B Hop did, trust me.

That's the first reason why I didn't like him. Also, it made me roll my eyes up every time HBO talked about him or commented during his fights. Making him sound as if he was perfect. So I just wanted to see him loose for those reasons and eventhough I didn't like him back then I felt he got robbed against Tito but still I enjoyed seeing him loose. After that, I was cool about him.He beat JCC Superstar.
Not sure about this. I thought he did what he had to. It's like, say, a soccer team is winning and there are 5 minutes left and they decide to pass the ball around the field just to make time and walk away with their victory. Sure, they might get some boos but its not like they are doing something illegal. They are just being smart about the situation. ODLH gave Tito a boxing lesson throughout the fight and for the last 2 or 3 rounds decided to just glide his way to victory. Fans didn't like it and seems like the judges saw the fight through casual boxing fans' eyes. Roberto Alcazar told Oscar to do the right thing. He ran away from Tito
Anybody can loose. I don't see why loosing to B Hop or anybody else would make someone dislike him.He got stopped by B Hop
And got robbed against Mosley II. Some of those things just happen unfortunately. He robbed Strum
I wanted him to face someone else instead of Pac. I can imagine he picked Pac for all kinds of reasons that seemed to favor him and his plan ended up bitting his butt, totally backfired. He disgraced himself against Pac
I know. There is some footage out there (I wonder if its on YouTube) of Chavez sparring with ODLH. I think it was just a exhibition thing and ODLH looked like he was punching a rock (Chavez). I have mixed feelings when boxing greats stay in the ring longer then they should only to make young prospects look "great" by loosing to them.Young Mexicans hate JCC?? And JC Chavez had one of the greatest body punches out there. I remember how he connected that left hook to the body with finess wearing down his opponents and then knocking them out.Prime JCC left hook to the body would crumple ODH like B Hop did, trust me
PurtyBoy,The few that do is mostly due to him wooping JCC
Same here.
De la Hoya: A Very Un-Mexican Surrender
Mexican fighting legend ‘Rockin’ Ruben Olivares was reported to have been dismayed at De la Hoya’s less than gallant stand (against PAC).
Alongside the fact ‘The Golden Boy’ was seen to have perpetrated the cardinal sin amongst prize fighters (especially one of Mexican origin) in surrendering in his corner and the mood was sombre to say the least among his fighting countrymen.

"Very few people really understand what it means to be a fighter. I hate it when I hear someone say, 'That fighter doesn't have guts. I hate that, I don't care if you're a world champion six times over or a four-round fighter, to step inside that ring, you have to have guts" Oscar De La Hoya

Fast hands and slick boxers and movement always bothered JCC. Whitaker made him look horrible and meldrick taylor beat him for almost the entire fight and those guys didn't have the power of oscar. due to oscar's last fights people have forgotten how good he was in his prime, when he was hungry.

give that man a round of applause
would urge all you newly found de la hoya bashers to go back and watch his old 135/140 pound days when he was bashing up the very best the divisions had to offer.
The comeback against quartey, manner in which he destroyed gatti, chavez and then theres the leija, rivera type matchups where he was in with genuine talent!!
one dangerous horrible bloke
