Why Mexicans Hate Oscar De La Hoya

1. He beat an over-the-hill JCC Superstar.
2. He was a celebrity carefully crafted and constructed by the U.S. press.
3. He beat Vargas after Vargas had been destroyed by Tito.
4. He ran away from Tito like a cheap hooker from a slap-happy pimp.
5. He got stopped by B Hop with a grazing body shot, after which he proceeded to pound the canvas with his fist in an amusing show of "frustration."
6. He robbed Strum in the eyes of everyone but himself. Well... and blind DLH fans.
7. He disgraced himself against Pac. (Ahh yes... nothing else need be added here.)
8. (I added # Remember Vargas' famous quote before his fight with Tito: "THIS Mexican...won't run." This alone speaks as to how the average Mexican boxing fan did not appreciate how Oscar ran away from Tito in the last three rounds of the fight, regardless of the reason. A dislike that was obviously shared by the three judges judging the fight.

every great fighter's record can be picked apart like that. I can make a thread bashing the careers of tito, julio cesar chavez, roy jones, joe calzaghe, floyd mayweather but that is just something that haterz do.

Hey wow... hadn't seen a post from you in awhile. You don't get on much, do you. I remember when I first started on the forum. My first "sad-clicks" for Oscar-bashing were from you. At first I took it personally. Then I realized we're just fans of different fighters, and with VERY different opinions about the same facts. So yeah... I'm a hater, I guess. But usually I'm pretty detailed about my reasons. Maybe not 100% right about all of them, but very passionate about them. But as Yogi Berra would say... boxing is 90% facts and 90% opinions.

De La Hoya doesn't fit the mold of the rugged Mexican fighter, but I think he is popular with Mexican/Americans, if not Mexicans.

I would give a prime JCC the edge over a prime DLH.

Oscar should fight the winner of Marg and Mosely, and he will get the respect of all the boxing community, which is something money cannot buy. He will lose but it is better to lose to a legitimate welterweight than a chiwawa, as some poster describe Pac before he won the fight.

Oscar fighting anybody else would be like him building others' careers. Having "Oscar De La Hoya" in your boxing resume looks good no matter what. I hope he doesn't fight anymore.
