As in I dropped a dime on that fight
It can also be a synonym for ratting someone out,"I dropped a dime on his ass when the feds came around" alluding to the fact that for many years a pay call cost 10 cents, the fact that I distinctly remember the ten cent pay call is not making me feel youthful,of course I also remember rotary phones, and dinosaurs
Dinero comes up alot because of the large Latin population in the states
i've never heard dinero, nor have i ever heard a dime being dropped on a fight.. maybe that was just way before my time..

probably because i've never seen anyone bet on a sporting event only for $10, i guess..

anyway, "bucks" is always used, but "dollars" is just as common.. I'd say bucks is more slang just because if you're at a restaurant or retail store they will say "that's 10 dollars and 50 cents" as opposed to "that's 10 bucks and 50 cents".. bucks is a more casual word i believe, and less professional..

besides the stuff that kingfrank said, the only other that comes to mind is a "fin" which is a $5..

and TM, I remember 25 cent phone calls, and i'm not saying that because i'm old or anything, it's more just sad that a call costs MORE than 25 cents now.. sort of ridiculous..
