I just read on Boxingtalk that Diaz agreed to fight JMM in March or April, but JMM has not agreed to anything yet, so no agreement or announcement can be formally made yet.

on boxingscene they have Willie Savannah, Diaz' manager saying that its pretty much done for February 28 and that Marquez has changed his mind and agreed to fight in Houston, which I guess makes sense in a way because there it will be a big crowd.
Apparently they just have to decide the venue. On HBO.
Rumored undercard is Stephen Luevano-Rocky Juarez, yes another title shot for Rocky Juarez.
Here's an interview with Juan Diaz explaining what the current status is.

And Nate Campbell is left out in the cold fighting Ali Funeka. There is no justice.
Regardless this would be a great fight.
Yea this would be an exceptional matchup, I think I'd take Marquez but not positive Diaz wouldn't outwork him. Would imagine it depends whether Marquez can earn enough respect to make Diaz fight at his pace, going by his performance against Casamayor I suspect he will. Nate Campbell definetly is getting shafted big time though, he deserves a big fight with any of these guys, even a rematch with Diaz for more money. But at least Rocky Juarez is getting another shotThat is really ridiculous if true, I just can't understand for the life of me how he keeps getting on big cards in title fights when he is SHIT to watch. Blah.
I know most people hate Rocky Juarez, but I like him. The problem is that he does do anything exceptional, but he is a fundamentally and technically sound fighter with a great chin. The problem with him is that he's a pressure fighter without great work rate, and he doesn't have much of a killer instinct. He's just steady. He's kinda like a Winky Wright without the great jab and superb defense. He stalks and stalks, and when he's outclassed, like in the Barrera 2 or JMM, he just looks like total garbage. he can't seem to get off and just gets outboxed. He beats they guys that he's supposed to beat. Personally, I really enjoyed the first MAB fight and the Barrios fight. When he's in with a guy who will trade with him, I think he's decent to watch because he's a good counterpuncher and he isn't afraid to trade.
I don't think he gets enough credit. Rocky is step up for Luevano, and I would probably make this fight 60/40 for Juarez. This is a guy who nearly beat Barrera, nearly beat Soto, and stopped Barrios. He's been in with JMM and even won maybe two rounds. Luevano will bring it, and Rocky will have his opportunities to counter with his short and accurate punches. Luevano will find out fast that he's not in with Billy Dib.
He also seems to have a good following, and at this point, he's a well know name. That always helps you get more chances. If Luevano beats him, it will really put him on the map and this will be a great gauge of his talent level.
