I was initially thinking that it was some secret agreement Don King had with the WBA but Chagaev got a decision win over Valuev which would negate that argument somewhat.

What I think is significant though is that when Valuev lost to Chagaev it was to another former Russian territory bloke and based in Germany whereas the other 3 controversial wins, against Donald, Ruiz and Holyfield are all American based.

So my tentative fixing theory is that there is a collabaration with the WBA and German officials to keep this world title belt in Germany and Eastern Europe.

That makes sense to me, and from henceforth that is my conspiracy story.
sounds like a good theory to me. I didnt see this fight but it sounds like more than another bad decision to me, more like the judges saw what they were told to see.

I guess this was to insure the giant would get a big payday against one of the Klits.

MMA is looking better all the time.

Sauerland puts the judges in a supernice hotel and after they check in a really nice girl knocks on the door and offers to have sex with them. Or something like that. Basically you have a really nice time as a judge when you do a show for a German promoter. Probably for a few extra quid on the sanctioning fee the WBA gives Sauerland leeway with the judges too, appointing people he's had a good relationship (in terms of coming up with the "correct" decision in the past) with. Everybody on the sanctioning/judging side of things wants the happy situation to happen every time they go to Germany so they come up with the right decision every time. Wasn't Ottke IBF champ? It obviously doesn't matter who the sanctioning body is as it's well-known how things are supposed to work over there.

The promoter pays the judges. Although I doubt there was a direct bribe, I think judges are often heavily influenced by the promoter of the show. THis was a Sautherland event. Sautherland owns Valuev and has no interest in Holyfield. THose judges will likely get more top gigs from Sautherland. They did their service.

The sanctioning body should order a rematch to take place in the US
I would rather they just overturn the fight, Rematch would only benefit Valuev, Because Holyfield will just get older and Valuev would just train harder

Has a fight result ever been overturned in the history of boxing?

As much as I'd like this one anulled it would set a terrible precadent with practically every 12 rounder going to the law courts.

The judges should be made to explain though and get supsended on the grounds of gross incompetence and an inability to do their job.

    Sadly that won't happen either

In my mind if they did not want him to fight and rather then make boxing look bad why did they just not give him his licience ! i suppose he may have passed all the medicals but for gods sake the guy is 46 is there not an age limit to get a licience ?

Valuev fixed it he threatens the judges that he will come after them after the fight and stick their heads in his armpits. Chagaev only won because he has stinkier armpits.

I disagree with Bilbo's assumption that we 'all know' the fight was rigged. It's presumptive, leading and condescending. You assume that we can't think for ourselves.

Besides, we all know that Valuev won every round.

So lets here your intelligent breakdown on how Valuev won 3 rounds let alone all of them

You are right in that judges should be held accountable. I also agree that it probably wont happen anytime soon.

Im almost done with boxing. My favourite fighters are too old. And the corruption is everywhere.

It is a dying sport. And it deserves to be.

this is gonna be about as unpopular as they come....

I got home for the football saturday night (very drunk) just to see evander-nikolay.

Watched the fight in its completion and havent seen it since and at that very time i scored it 115-113 for valuev.

Now there have been plenty of occasions when ive got a decision completely tits up (ie:marquez-john, when i had JMM winning every round but 2) but at first view i dont see an argument for a complete utter robbery!!!
    one dangerous horrible bloke
