Because he is unbelievably good. A great boxer. But not a great fighter to me. He hasn't fought a livewire opponent at WW. Ricky was a lightwelter. that being said, IMO he doesn't really talks the talk and walks the walk. His big mouth annoys most fans. Especially his father's mouth.Fukk Sr.
An empty can is always noisy.
I think people hate mayweather because they know that he can "bring it", he says what he's goanna do and does it, like so may other boxer before him ie. eubank, naseem hamed and the greatest ALI, people who can deliver get seen as arrogant....its business at the end of the day and "money" knowa da business, lets face it anyone who is a champ at so many different weights desearves to be "COCKY"![]()

for putting up videos like this.
It's said throughout the forum that Mayweather's prefight trash talk and his "Money May" persona is all an act. Either way, it's still the image he's giving out there.
...i really do belive floyd is hated mainly because he wants to be. Some people like to be the hero others stive on being the villian. Being hated has made the guy a ton of money. When's the last time floyd's fan's sold out an arena or was the cause of big ppv no's. Being hated is his gimmic he's relies on the human aspect of people loving to see those doing better than themselves fail. I just saw a story on latrell sprewell who used to be in the NBA and it struck me funny that people like to look at how L spreewell has lost millions in cash and property recently yet forgetting he's probably lost more in a year than the reporter and most that saw the story will have in a lifetime. Better to have had blah blah....anyhow floyd builds on that instead of trying to gain fans.
Hidden Content Click clack ! Give up the purse.........or yetti will find you.
I somewhat like hated him when he said he's better than Robinson.
He should wait people to tell him that.
So I dislike him for having a loud mouth.![]()

Hmmmmm let me see. This ought to be easy. He's arrogant, He waves his money in front of people's face, he tries to retire at his young age because he doesnt want to risk losing, he cheated against the Big Show at wrestlemania, he acts like the world revolves around him, his dad is just as arrogant as him and also looks like the predator when he has long braids, 90 percent of his fights are boring.........ect......
I can understand why people hate Floyd the person. He comes off as a spoiled, arrogant, ignorant, obnoxious son of a b!tch. No one likes to see a rich brat running around throwing money around. It just doesn't endear you to the public.
What I can't understand is how self proclaimed boxing fans can hate Floyd the boxer. The guy is a true virtuoso, a throwback. He is, whether his haters want to admit it or not, one of the all time greats. Thats a fact.
Look back in boxing history. How many guys had Floyd's physical gifts (speed, reflexes) combined with boxing skill and knowledge (defense, combination punching, ring generalship, ect), combined with unbreakable determination and discipline. I'll tell you right now, you're list probably won't leave the single digits.
As much as I dont like his personality, in the ring he embodies the sweet science, and with the popularity of mma rising and boxing declining, he's probably one of the last true virtuosos we'll see. Floyd the fighter deserves better than having so called fans a "know it alls" saying he never fought anyone (because thats just stupid).
Enjoy Floyd while he's around because its going to be a long time (if ever) that we see that kind of brilliance in the ring again.
I dont like his approach to people, but he did go up in my books at the end of the Hatton fight.
I dont like the fact hes avoided a lot of fighters, he thinks hes so good that he can just retire when he wants. The fact is nobody gives a shit if hes here or not! he doesnt have the right to retire and think hes the best. He still has A LOT to prove, Margarito, Williams and Pac will say they deserve a pop at him
I don't really see how you can really truthfully hate on him for this.. he does what he needs to do to win a fight.. and it's legal.. it's not like he's headbutting or cheating.. he's just using his strengths and talents in a way that benefits him.. if he knows he can win the fight by being elusive defensively, then would you honestly say that you wouldn't do that in his position? he takes minimal punishment, and gets his job done.. as far as i'm concerned that seems like a pretty good approach to boxing! What you're failing to understand is that defensively he's a genius, and if other boxers could move like he could, then they would.. unfortunately they can't and they have to stand in the pocket and throw.. but the fact that he's using his strengths to win a fight is something i can't hate on him for.
also he did have some real decent power before he moved up so much in weight.. 64% KO percentage is not too shabby..
floyd has fought good opposition.. mauybe not the HARDEST fights he could ever possibly find, but he still has talented opposition.. What you just explained is the reason why i hate Calzaghe.
I don't hate him, i have a lot of admiration for him but i am puzzled he has retired when there is such a good bunch of Welterweights in their prime ready to fight him anytime. Cotto, Margarito and Williams? I thought his win against DLH was admirable ( I reckon i could beat DLH these days) and his win against Hatton was emphatic. I hear murmurs of him wanting Pacman but no talk of the three genuine Welterwights i mentioned above....very strange! This in itself leaves a sour taste in the mouths of boxing fans.![]()
I think a lot of people missed the first post saying "despite his arrogance" why do people hate him.
Haven't seen anything yet other then "his personality" or "he's a dick" or "he's a jerk"
I think that can fall under arrogance. I guess there is no other reason to hate Floyd then if you dont like his cockiness.
But I will say this
Some fighters are cocky and dont train worth anything because they expect their talent to pull them through.
Floyd has the hardest work ethic of any fighter including Hopkins. So he has arrogance, but he works for it.
LOL. I remember an instance where Lewis butchered his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. Cracked me up, bigtime. Together with Roseanne's-- up to now, networks serve these, to "would be" renderers that prep is still in order, or face becoming a butt... of jokes. He has got great sense of humor tho-- very likable, but... taking him seriously is another vein.
