Anyone Else Think That If Shane Beats Margarito, PBF Will Want Shane?

From what I saw of Shane last time out, he is done. I'm about the only one on this site who thinks this, but he had terrible trouble with Mayorga and one punch saved his reputation. That power won't be knocking Tony out, but I see that fight as the end of the line for Shane, and I think Tony will give him a one sided beating. The movement in the legs simply wasn't there against Mayorga, and its a tool he'll really need against a pressure puncher like Margarito.

You could very well right, he did look old against Mayorga even Cotto imo, but Im just saying what if he does win. He still has a chance, I could see shane not alowing Margarito to get in a rythm, and beating him to the punch, if his legs hold up he could pull it off. Im still favoring Tony to win though too.

Whilst I agree that Shane was a shadow of his former self vs Mayorga we must remember that Shane was up against a big, mauling wild guy who was coming down from super middleweight . Shane instead of boxing stood his ground and knocked this guy clean out . Margarito when he moved up just afew pounds to light middle showed he couldnt handle the extra weight vs Dan Santos. Mosley wont be fearful of his strength, moreso his pace and pressure.

Should Shane win ( which I dont think he will ) then I reckon Floyd would take that fight cuz everyone knows Shane and that would sell big. My money would be on PBF on points . Prime for prime I go for Shane

I don't think Shane is a shadow of his old self at all, I just think big guys aren't his cup of tea, his style suits him way more against boxers and smaller guys than it does againt big puncher types. He is still very fast as the Collazo fight would indicate, he still has very good reflexes, I just feel guys like Vargas, Cotto, and Mayorga would have given him some troubles at any point of his career simply because of their styles.

Well the Collazo fight was nearly 2 years ago and he was 35. Hes 37 now and a couple of years can make a difference. Shane has been looking older every fight imo. Still he could look fast compared to Margarito. I think the biggest question about Shane is his legs. If his legs are gone, he loses this fight. If he can move for 12 rounds, it will be a tough fight for Margarito.

Yeah, i think Mosley will take a similar approach to Cotto. Shane isnt going to be able to back Margarito up imo, i think his plan will be to use his speed, angles, and get in and out. Hes not a great defensive fighter and so i think Margarito will find plenty of openings on the inside if Shane wants to trade. I think Shane needs to stay one step ahead and utilize his speed and lateral movement.

Has every one forgotten how easy Cotto had it for a while in that fight, how he made magarito miss at will? got his shots off and moved without any problem?

i like Magarito, i picked hi to beat Cotto, won a shit load of money on it at 8-1 - but like most people who took the same bet, we done it because Cotto tires in the late rounds and has a less than solid chin...

If mayweather is in his usual shape, he can dance and move for 12 full rounds, picking magarito off and making him miss. I think toni would pick up a round or two here and there but i would expect floyd to win a fairly wind DC....

either way, Magarito is an, at best average skilled boxers, he is just blessed with a cast iron, rock solid, can't be moved freaking chin than can take anything as will as never ending stamina - against smart fighters who can move for 12 rounds, he will get beat.

He is like an old fashoined fighter if we had fifteen rounds again, you wouldnt give anyone modern a hope against him.

PBF only fights for the money. Shane never does well with ticket sales. That won't change if he beats Margarito. The only fight out there for PBF right now is the winner of Hatton v. Pacquiao or both.

Risk/reward - why fight Shane or Margarito or Williams when PBF could fight less risky fight with Pacquiao or Hatton for more money?

PBF won't fight the best welterweights because there isn't enough money to offset the risk.

PBF won't fight Margarito; he won't fight Shane; and, he won't fight Williams.
