Aside from that, I don't think Batman was a homo when he was first created, although yeah I suppose anybody who walked into a biker bar wearing a rubber suit and cape might get the bum's rush no pun intended, so point taken there. The Batman in Dark Knight, sure looked like he held a torch for the prosecutor's girlfriend. At one time he obviously boned her.
But that's not necessarily the way it is. Just because some gay fetishists wear rubber suits, doesn't make everyone who wears rubber suits a gay fetishist. But yeah ok, there is an element of truth buried somewhere in your post.
I'm not suggesting that the Batman as portrayed in the Dark Knight is gay, the director has gone out of his way to try and make the film dark and edgy and remove all the campiness.
But what I'm saying is that it's impossible to reinvent a character like this. The Batman character for the last several decades has been notoriously camp and gay. Trying to create a serious, dark, gritty film around him is like trying to create a film about Michael Jackson and his sex conquests amongts the hottest celebrity women. Sure they could take away his child molestation accusations, his Neverland ranch, his fair ground and extensive plastic surgery and just focus the film on his marriage to Elvis Pressley's daughter but we'd all know it was just a crock of shit.
Batman is a bigger bender than an Indian Yogi.
