If he still has it, it's Wright 9 rounds to 3. If Quintana could out box Williams, Wright will too.

Hopefully Williams will now leave 147 for good. He doesn't belong there. He's a marginal 154 fighter, with a height better suited for 160. His fight with Winky ought to be pretty interesting. Not sure who I'd pick. Williams has a high workrate... Winky's a defensive specialist. Probably looking at Williams by decision.

Williams has long arms, right? It seems to me that should make it easier for him to find holes in Winky's defense.

good matchup
all relevant logic suggests PW should have way too much for winky to trouble him.
But Winky is so good at taking a fighter out of his comfort zone and forcing him into the trenches i`ll actually be throwing a few quid on a wright upset when this comes around ala:hopkins over pavlik
one dangerous horrible bloke

Winky impossible to look good against so fair play to Williams for taking the challenge. I think Winky may have slipped enough for Williams to outwork him for a UD.
Very interesting fight. I never was a big fan of Winky but always respected the guy. I'm not a big fan of that type of fighter but just the same respect his ability and always tuned in to see him fight. He'll come in in shape regardless of the layoff. There may be some rust and if Paul is on his game Wnky is in for a tough night. But Winky is Winky and I'm not making any predictions just yet. LETS GET IT ON!!!
Whoever you favor for this, it's an interesting fight. We don't know how much Winky has left in the tank, and this will be Paul's first fight against a quality MW.
Williams is definately an improved fighter since his loss to Quintana. Carlos exposed some of his flaws, but he's young and humble enough that he took the loss as a learning experience and become a more intelligent boxer. Before he was just a thrower and he way too often gave up his natural advantages in favor of throwing non-stop volumn.
Maybe it's because he's been avoided, but he makes fights with other who are avoided, and it makes him look good. He fought Tony when nobody else would and Winky is almost never anybodies first choice.
This is tough to call. I don't know what to expect from Winky and Williams is still a work in progress. I won't be laying any money on this one.

Anyone know where this fight is taking place? I was hoping since Winky is from St Pete Florida the fight might be in Tampa, if so I'm there.
Dan Rafael on ESPN said this was all but set, but not set, which is a bit strange since boxingscene said it was set. I assume its just details of the contract that have to be hammered out.
April 11 or April 18, no venue yet I guess.
has it been 2 years since Winky last fought
I don't understand why people can't see that Williams will be the p4p king. By 2010 he will be the biggest name in boxing. I am guaranteeing a K.O win for Williams in this one. I don't think anyone quite understands how good and powerful Williams is. He Stopped Verno, a guy who hadn't been stopped by anyone in 20 years, and he did it exclusively with body punching. His dedication to working the body in that fight was one of the most impressive things I've ever seen. He stopped a tough veteran without landing a meaningful head shot in the entire fight, it was brilliant. As for these people comparing Paul to Taylor you are out of your mind. Williams is already better than Taylor ever was and he is still getting better. Since the one hicup against Quintana, Williams has been on a whole other level. SHort of PBF coming out of retirement I don't think anyone can beat Williams right now (and floyd would be no sure thing).
Prediction: Williams next three fights will be against Winky, Pavlik and then Margo rematch. He will win all three and be p4p #1
