Jorge Arce vs Rafael Concepcion

What about these fights ? honestly i thought atleast 3 out of the 4 fights i listed above were easily better than Antonio Margarito vs Miguel Cotto, don't get me wrong Miguel Cotto vs Antonio Margarito was a cracking fight, but i certainly didn't think it was the FOTY. And i was pretty shocked it won FOTY aswell.
From what I understand it won the fans poll for Fight of the year. It's not Ring magazine official choice. I don't think that's been announce yet.
Yea. Ring Magazine's official "End of the Year" awards come out in the next issue. Those awards were formulated through fan voting.

Me personally, I had a certain criteria when it came to picking my fight of the year. I chose JMM vs Pac II for certain reasons. Cotto vs Marg and Marquez vs Vasquez were both great fights as well.

Cotto vs Margarito had one big momentum swing. Cotto dominated the early rounds and Margarito eventually caught up then, bang, fight over. They were both elite welterweights and the fight lived up to the hype. Couldn't have asked for more but to me it was only the 3rd best fight of 2008.

Marquez vs Vasquez was for a world title, the RING belt, had numerous momentum changes, had a winner decided in the last round, and well surpassed the hype. This was my second choise for fight of the year.

Pacquiao vs Marquez II was my favorite fight of the year for the following reasons:

-WBC title on the line
-RING belt on the line
-Two most elite fighters in the weight class
-Momentum changed within 1 or 2 rounds
-Both fighters were cut and bleeding
-The rematch had been anticipated for 4 years
-The fight was a slugfest and tactical at the same time
-The fight lived up to the hype and expectations
-Most importantly, for me, it was #2 vs #3 P4P at the moment. The P4P rankings are what seperated my decision between this fight and Marquez vs Vasquez.
