We were discussing this at a boxing show I went to last weekend, and Scott Harrison was held up as the exception of what boxing can do, with the rule being that most people involved in boxing are so confident in their ability that they don't need to prove anything outside the ring, therefore why most boxers you meet tend to be gents, as a rule, and not get into this kind of bother.
However, money and fame corrupts, and brings with it the kind of lackeys and hangers on who can turn someone who is lacking in self-esteem, or easily swayed into this kind of idiot. Don't think we'll see him between the ropes again, he's got enough trouble staying sober and out of the cells.
When he was world champion, and we saw his training regime of running in the highlands with military rucksacks, and his exceptional efforts in making weight, he had the tools physically to be decent on a world stage, not a superstar-beater but decent, he just didn't have the character to match.
An update courtesy of fightnews.com, apparently Harrison was scheduled for a court appearance in Spain earlier on, where he was duly arrested and sentenced to 30 months in prison for assaulting a police officer and stealing a car.
I for one look forward to seeing the over rated WBO - joke champion -Pillock , in the ring as a thirty something.
He is a pillar of the community.
I liked Scott Harrison as a fighter I dont think he was overhyped or a joke world champion at all , beat some decent fighters in immpressive style although he could be outhustled by slicksters like Victor Polo .
I know a fella who went to the same school as Harrison and says he was your genuine jeckyll and Hyde
