What about big John Tate He was total crap
What about big John Tate He was total crap
Surely its gotta be Valuev!
Hasim Rahman !!!
Nah, Braddock wasn't a bad fighter. He pilled up all those loses when he was injured and needed to fight practically monthly to feed his family. He had some real quality wins at LHW before Loughran beat him, and Loughran is an ATG. Braddock couldn't handle slick boxers like Loughran and Rosenbloom, but he was a good counterpuncher and ate up brawler types.
My vote goes to Primo Carnera, who got beat by Baer. Carnera was the Valuev of his day, but he was the undisputed champ. Carnera had no skill but was 60-70 lbs heavier than everybody he fought.
A lot of the names mentioned were just belt holders....Big problem with the ABC belts floating around......I think it should be limited to ones considered champ of the division
Hidden Content IN CASE THEY ALL FORGOT WHAT REAL HEAVYWEIGHT POWER WAS!!!
I picked Douglas, after beating Tyson he's one of the only genuine champs on the list, and whilst he was a good fighter, his reign as a champion was over without any sucsessful defences and so mostly consisted of him not training and eating lots of big macs
The name, Bruce Seldon comes screaming into my mind. If I remember correctly he won it and his very first defense was against Mike Tyson. Ever since that trouncing he's had to fight to prove to people he didn't throw the match. But I've never seen a guy happier after having lost a fight. And hell, it WAS his biggest payday. Too bad he burned through all his dough and had to come back after a several year long layoff.
Oops
Too bad Starr, but I have another one from the stone age (mentioned first by Daxx), really legitimate dud as a champ in the heavies division...
Ingemarr Johansson heavyweight champ, who never won a boxing match as one!
For the "now generation" tho, it has got to be, John "the minimalist" Ruiz!
Ruiz
The rest of them at least earned the belt without Don King bending over backwards to hand it back to them, they just got caught up in the lifestyle. Ruiz would(haha) win the belt back(sorry have to add, haha) lose it so fast it would make your head spin, and then be fighting somebody with a pulse(I assume, but I wasnt the ring doctor,so who knows) and be champion again
