    RIP

What an amazing life though to be so involved with the sport for pretty much all your years.

Was he part of team Tyson in the early days? He seemed to be in the ring quite a bit at Tyson fights!

Not part of team Tyson in the traditional way but he was an influence on Mike.....Knew him since Cus first found him at Tryon....The whole Catskill crew was very close back then...Tyson, Atalas, Cus, Rooney etc.....Jose was like Royalty to them.....

Jose really wanted Tyson to do well for himself and was genuinly saddened by Mikes antics....

The book he wrote was actually supposed to shed Tyson in a more positive light and give some understanding to maybe why Mike does some of the things he would do

After winning the title from Willie Pastrano, he had a few defences including the bout with Eddie Cotton before losing the title to former middleweight champion Dick Tiger.

Also Patterson, Jacobs and Cayton, but the straw that stirred the intellectual drink was Jimmy Jacobs IMO, a real brain and a super athlete (which few people ever knew). Jimmy was one of the greates handball player who ever lived. I believe he came from USC. Things started to beark down when he died suddenly. Quite a tight group back then--if only they could have stuck together, Tyson would not have imploded. Pity. Torres was a renisance man if ever there was one.

Sorry to see the passing of one of the few decent guys involved in the hiarchy of the sport at one point or another. I always wondered how the WBO managed to get him instead of a bandit like Jose Suliaman?
