    Totally disagree.

Everyone forgets that Calzaghe's got a boatload of knocked out gents on his record & Lacy's got a hell of a beard also.

His punches will have an effect babe.

One thing not to forget is Calzaghes hands though...THey can always be a problem, it's a small intangible with him. if he hurts it at all before or during the fight then he will be in really tough against Glen, and that will definetly have an effect.

violent demise i don't know how you know that Calzaghe has peaked yet. How come he can't carry on getting better. I think Calzaghe is an awesome fighter but it is impossible to say he has peaked unless it is said retrospectively (as in years retrospectively),...unless yiu truly believe that JC is the epitome of boxing prowess

The guys 33 years old, he is what he is. He won't improve anymore. The Lacy win was the peak win of his career. His downfall begins.

Now what timezone you live in that you have this historical perspective and know that March 4 2006 was the top of the hill for Joe and he started sliding down from that zenith right away? How you know it isn't a plateau that leaves him at a high altitude for a year or two or three? You been time travelling? what if he pulls a Hopkins?

Or do you know something we don't?

Me, I'm stuck travelling at the speed of time (tick-tock) ... so I appreciate your perspective. Hey ... you ever run into Dr Who?

I don't know - we'll find out. I like Joe fine but I wasn't bragging on him or anything. Maybe he won't beat anyone again, and then your words will prove to be true.

It's just that he beat Lacy only a little less than three months ago. To say that that was the peak of his career seems premature. (If he does beat folks like Tarver or Johnson I doubt very much that it will be the beat-down that he put on Lacy. I suppose that could be used as evidence of a decline - although it may only be that he's facing tougher opposition.)

And he's 34 now, not 33. Not only has he begun the inevitable decline from his best moment in boxing, he has also aged, in less than three months.

    tick-tock ...

Maybe in the late 90's & the early 2's...but not anymore babe...not anymore.

Sorry gotta disagree with you there 3rd fight against Tarver Jones still has faster hands than Calzaghe, and does hit harder its just he doesn't have any steam, or determination, and more important a chin/reflexes to get him by.

Maybe the 7 lb jump will affect Calzaghe (like it did his English counterpart, Hatton) and I think Johnson will do better against Calzaghe since Johnson has been in a big fight against a huge name 4 or 5 times before as opposed to Lacy being in his first big fight when he fought Calzaghe.
Agreed. Joe's gonna be waaaaaaay to fast for Glen. Way too fast. I personally see this as a stepping stone to Jones jr or Tarver...provided that both of those two win their next fights.

Imagine if Jones make some impressive comeback by KOing Prince Baldi & then taking on Calzaghe & defeating him...I would never wish that to happen...but stranger things have come to pass.

    Again...agreed.

I wouldn't say that Johnson is past it...because he has proven time & time again...that he's gotten old...but Calzaghe is a much better fighter defensively & tactically.
Thought you was a Jones fan, why wouldnt you want Roy to defeat Joe and go out with a bang?
Also I think this is going to be a tough, tough fight for Calzaghe. I will be surprised and impressed if he can beat Glen Johnson.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Calzaghe by UD, he won't knock him out. Only worry if that Calzaghe believes the hype, when he beat Lacy he was in the perfect frame of mind, he was being knocked by everyone as a dodger and had something to prove big time. He was also very aware that Lacy was dangerous, so he had a bit of that fear factor keeping him focused and on his toes.
If he is fighting Johnson I'd be very impressed, after all the speculation that he'd fight a 'tune up' he's arguably facing one of the biggest challenges out there, certainly a bigger challenge than Beyer and as tough if not tougher than Kessler.

Let's just hope also that JC makes the weight properly, not just by doing less conditioning.

If Joe doesn't get up for this he's in for a LOOOOONG night.

Glen is a tough guy, he can take punches and his work rate is incredible...TOUGH TOUGH fight
