I allways wondered what he could have been if he had actually gotten in shape

I wouldn't really call Butterbean a slob, nor do I think he was in bad physical condition. Obviously he wasn't a top ten, or a stunning physical specimen, and obviously his nickname didn't help his image, but imo Eric Esch showed good athleticism for his body shape. Probably if he had tried to slim down he would have lost something in the strength department.

But on the other end of the spectrum,if the fight went to the fourth,he was weezing like a bellows.
Im not calling him a slob, but it would have been interesting to see him in legitimate good shape
I dont say it would have worked, but it would have been interesting to have seen what he could have done. Suprisingly I'll say this, that guy could really time a shot, so what makes it interesting is,what if he could have thrown more of them

Point taken. Last I saw of him, a few months ago, he was in a K1 tournament. Again, while he was no superstar, he performed surprisingly well based solely on his physical appearance.

If your being honest, youve got to give the Bean credit,a former Toughman fighter, who rarely if ever trained trained. I know he fought mainly bums. But he had an almost uncanny ability to uncork that punch at exactly the right moment
Timing and rhythm in the ring are trainable to a degree, but alot of it is just god given ability. Seeing that ability in a well honed body would have at the very least been interesting, because he allways knew when to bring the big fire power
