Ive still got a sneaky suspicsion if joe was going to retire he would of already done it and one last swansong in wales may just be on the cards.

The natural opponent would be dawson but whether chads team would be willing to send him over to wales is an entire question in itself.

As much as I like Chad Dawson why should Calzaghe fight him? It's the reverse of Froch: outside of the US, who the hell knows who he is? Dawson is a really dangerous guy Joe would have to take minimum wage to fight. He'd be better off with Froch in Millenium Stadium. I doubt a Dawson match-up would sell out over here.

Joe would have the financial leverage against Froch or Dawson. Is it not a given that Joe would pack the stadium in his last fight in Wales regardless of who is in the other corner? Especially, if the person is a dangerous, competitive boxer? I know Joe is no Hatton in terms of popularity and I don't live in Cardiff. However, consider that HBO just signed Dawson to a contract and aren't interested in Froch. If Calzaghe is interested in getting stateside exposure, Dawson is the way to go.

Froch is the safer fight; of that, there is no doubt.

Dawson isn't even a big draw in the states yet.

His last fight with Tarver couldn't even sell out a 2000 seat arena. Fuck knows why HBO have taken up the rematch. I know they have been criticised for it.

If Joe has one last fight in Wales he could fight ANYONE and it's gonna sell out in a matter of days, he'll easily pack it out with 70 odd thousand people just to see his last fight.
With that in mind i think he should face Froch, don't know why but for me Dawson is dangerous for Joe!
A Hopkins rematch is obviously gonna make a fortune but does Joe need the cash that badly anymore and what's he got to prove against the cheating Popkins anyway who just looked to get Joe DQ'd late on when his skills were slaughtered by Joe's and he realised he couldn't beat him.
Joe hates Popkins as a person so i doubt if he'll entertain him really

whether the fight is held in america, wales or tim-buck-too the general perspective is that it has to be sellable for an american audience, even a PPV one.

Froch for that circumstance is a complete no-go as he finds himself in the exact same position joe did at that stage of his career in that unless he is able to bang opponents out within 5 rounds or brings a wacky personality to the ring until he reaches an "unbeatable" status the likes of HBO/Showtime just arent going to be interested in him.

The only realistic sellable fight for an american audience is Dawson and thats about it.

If calzaghe is to fight again it`ll be against Chad Dawson i promise you that!!!!!!!!!

I think it will be Glen Johnson.

He costs peanuts and is willing to travel. He has an American audience. Fought live on ITV and BBC. There's history between them.

That would be a good fight to end on.
