Margarito caught cheating?

I love all the nicknames and think it's funny as hell, but I have to agree and will wait until it's more official before judging margarito. For now I'll accept his past victories and give him credit until it's official.

If confirmed Margarito should be suspended and fined heavily. There is no room in boxing for cheats. Using hardened wraps is akin to knowingly attempting manslaughter. Boxing is risky enough as it is without this kind of carry on. Makes me highly suspicious about the Cotto fight now, as well as the Cintron fights, and pretty much any fight now I come to think of it.

Alright i want to see solid proof on this because all i have been hearing is there might of been i want to see artical or somthing if i can have a link. I just watched the final round of his fight with Cotto again and I saw him at the end carried by his corner raising his hands minus the gloves and I think it looks pretty normal. I don't think it would do more damage than what he inflicted on Cotto unless it was as bulgy as the one on the picture you posted. Before we conclude on the controversy and judge Tony we should also think that this wouldn't been an issue if he had won against Mosley. Marg didn't lose tonight because he didnt have those 'illegal wraps' but because Shane put on a magnificent performance. I don't think adding some plaster of paris to handwraps would increase the accuracy of your punches. Against Cotto, Tony was very efficient. Tonight he was totally out of his style because of Mosley's perfect gameplan.

Bottomline..Don't judge him. It is awful. The attempt to cheat tonight was awful. But what we saw tonight happened not because he got caught. It's because Shane Mosley is the man.

I did lose a ton of respect for Antonio Margarito TONIGHT. only the Margarito who fought TONIGHT.

I do agree with most of your post. This should be about Mosely's performance, as what a performance it was. He was in a zone and on his game in a way much like I saw only in my recent memory in Bhop in Bhop/Pavlik. Completely focused, firing on all cylinders and utilizing all the tools and skill that come with a long successful career.

So much kudos to Sugar Shane.

I also agree that we must first get the facts in before we start throwing stones and questioning fights prior. So let us do that.

Where I don't agree, is in suggesting that if proven, we cannot take Margarito's previous performances and look at them with a suspicious eye. Integrity is integrity. There is a reason when a cop or a prosecuting attorney is caught cheating the system to further their agenda to get a win that often previous cases are then relooked at.

The reason is that if a person is proven to have such a lack of ethics enough to cheat to further their agenda now, the chances are much higher they have had them in the past. Actions speak.

So don't blame fans of Cotto and other people Margarito has beaten for casting that suspicious eye, or even for making angered assumptions. If it is proven he cheated tonight...the person to blame for all the suspicion is Antonio Margarito, the person who wraps his hands and anyone else who may have known.

And no, if it is proven, he shouldn't in my opinion lose those past fights, unless some revelation comes out telling, proving of how he cheated then also. But he should, again, if proven...have to suffer considerable consequences for it. Monetary? I think so. A suspension? I think so. A tarnish on his legacy? Most definately.

This sport cannot afford cheating. Not in this climate where it already struggles and is competing for fans. Not from promotors. Not from judges. And most certainly...not from it's athletes.

Did you see Margaritos face after the Cotto bout? Those were more than just mosquito bites and just imagine, Cotto was getting hit with dirty wraps so we are using small 8 oz gloves and the wraps when harden, weigh about a pound each. All Tony had to do is land a few good shots with the cast fists and he would do damage. Had Tony not been caught cheating, he would have done the same to Mosley as he did to Cotto but the PUTO got caught cheating and then was exposed because he knew he did not have his loaded gloves to give him any advantage over Mosley. They didn't ask Margarito if I remember after the fight. Lampley said something about plastic pieces in the wraps, they would be like little ridges in between the knuckles I think. The ridges help cause cuts. One guy did this recently I think the trainer would roll up the tape and make ridges, no illegal material just illegal wrapping.
