It is understandable to use text speak on your mobile when you are trying to save letters so you can send a message in one go as opposed to two, especially when you are younger and on pay as you go, but I don't understand why it would be used on a message board where you can write as much as you want without any charge. Surely it takes longer to write, it sure as hell takes longer to understand,
With regards to suggestions of muay thai and other striking arts, this is something that i would not reccomend for use outside of the ring. When you are outside of the ring you are subject to the law. Explaining to a policeman that you do muay thai and thats why when the guy came towards you threateningly you elbowed him in the nose, kneed him in the ribs and then dropped him to the floor will not leave you in a very good situation.
Here is what my example of perfect self defense is:
1. You need something to defend against eg an actual incoming strike whether it be punch/kick/knife/bottle, and not just somebody mouthing at you. Self defence always assumes that you are the non-aggressor.
2. You must block/deflect or otherwise avoid the strike. Stopping a strike with your face/chin/bollocks is not a block.
3. Once this is done the aggressor must rendered unable to attack again. This can be done with a direct strike or manipulation such as a lock or a throw followed by a strike.
Grappling or submission on its own is not enough as self defence because firstly the guy probably has a couple of mates watching and secondly the moment you release the lock or submission the person (assuming they are the normal aggressive prick will go for you again)
Legally following this procedure will leave you completely above the law assuming you use reasonable force, Losing control is not the answer.
Having said that boxers are officially the people bouncers least like getting bother with because they are very good at throwing punches that knock people out! But the boxer will get arrested a la Scott Harrison
