Doesnt necessarily need to be in the states to do all that, and it would certainly mean more to the UK fans. But there you go. Boxing has its fingers in certain troughs.
Don't misunderstand me... I am positive a fight could be promoted in the Philippines for Pacquaio and another big money draw. It is just that Pacquiao already has promoter contracts in place and that is the main difficulty. It'd be a lot of very hard work for a Philippine promoter to make it happen and he'd have to start working out details even before he made a proposal. For the Philippines is would have to be a free tv broadcast and depending on the sponsors PPV in other areas. It is unreal/surreal and a fantasy how a boxer could turn a countries attention for just doing what he does. It gives me a headache just trying to think of the kind of resources that have to be used to host a Pacquiao fight in the Philippines. Over 4500 police were used to secure his visit to the presidential palace. It's a who's who security nightmare foreign and domestic ringside. dam... now that I started thinking about it, forget it.....
